That they do....not being married to a butcher, I talk to the guys at the Supermarket (some trade-trained fols behind the counter) and they carve off a slab of rump maybe 35-40mm thick if you ask.. 4m in the grill and it's done to perfection. Just cooked up a batch, it'll keep in the fridge for a few days, esp if you keep it out of the juices. Yum, yum, YUM =P~

which supermarket?

New World Thorndon - the butchers there seem really helpful. Ain't necessarily cheap, but I figured it's worth it. The steak cuts that are pre-packed are real skinny and dry out too quickly.

Gipp St Butchers, Karori, and Village Meats Khandallah are also good, and Moore Wilsons too, probly.

I'm so curious about these powdered egg whites. How do you use them? When you say you have them as a shake, what does it taste like (apart from salty!). Probably not as yum as a flavoured protein shake? But they look like they have more protein I think.

Hmmm, might have to try them!

Moore Wilsons

That's where I get supplies  Their red meat is all pre-packaged. You can get a whole fillet and cut it to size. Or you can buy fillet already cut to very respectable thicknesses, i.e. restaurant stylez. Chicken they do at the counter etc.

Thorndon is good too. Chaffers also does the biz. Nice lady behind the counter, nothing is too much to ask etc 8)

Get one Miss Vee, They Make Meat And Other Foodz Easy .

I used my what-used-to-be omelette heater upper AKA grill to cook Le Schnitzel this evening:post-2536-1416681974103_thumb.jpgpost-2536-14166819741258_thumb.jpg

Yeh they don't taste that nice drinking them as is, but I am now a recovering vegan back to eating le meat, eating has become for function only!

You mix the powder with water and they are instant egg whites, there's nothing else added to them just dehydrated egg whites. I think they have a similar protein content as my isolate. I'm trying to cut back on shakes and have more real food, so this is the convenience of a shake but real food contents.

New job today! I start a bit later than old job, so finish a bit later too. Gym was PACKED this evening, didn't like queuing for the equipment, so might start going in the mornings again. Got a mini workout done before I gave up.

WEIGHTSICLES

BB lunge: 17.5kg x15 each leg x2

Leg Extension: 49kg x10 x2 (PB!! )

DB Sumo Squat: 10kg x12 x2

Plank: 90 sec

SB leg curl: x15 x2

No morning tea eating going on today at new job, very nearly starved to death (slight exaggeration :-s ) It's gonna take a few days to get into a new rhythm of new timings/job

FOOD:

M1: protein shake

M2: steak, peanut butter (look RMG steak for brekkie!!)

M3: chicken, salad, PB

M4: pre workout chicken

M5: schnitzel, salad, wrap

M6: chicken

That's why I liked the frozen liquid eggwhites - that same real-food theory. These are frozen/ pasteurised to get over the raw-egg-white thing, so safe to use. 300ml equals 10 whites, no wasted yolks, one-litre bottle keeps in the fridge. In Wellington, you can get them from Sync gym (above Whitcoulls, Lambton Quay, about 7 bucks for 30-egg 1l bottle.

Oooh! So how's the meat eating going?

I'm LOVING the change, SO bored of fish and I can eat meat for brekkie, never fancied a can of tuna for first meal of the day!

I have meat lined up in the fridge, my husband says he likes me more now! :pfft:

Meat is great, it's filling and easy to cook (once I got the hang of it!) I am converted! 8)
