If you like a bit of "slayer" you might find "pantera" equally enjoyable..."Vulgar display of power" is a good album 8)

Just been pricing running shoes: Asics GT-2140s, selling at home for goodness only knows, - here, they're $NZD 125 :shock: Didn't really want all those work clothes in my suitcase when I fly home....

Me too! I've got a big shoe box full of mini discs I spent ages copying CDs to, so I'm not chucking them!

hee hee me too and tapes god knows I don't play them EVER but you never know!

ran for an hour today, shoulda done a bit moar but feeling tired and need rest more than more cardio this week.

hey there she-of-mighty-running, he-of-no-cardiovascular-fitness wants to know, what do you do nutritionally before the thon?? carb up 24hours etc? im just curious, dont know much of these things.lol

Fanks Mister! Well traditionally it's carbing up the week before alternating different types, pasta, potatoes etc or at the very least a day before.

BUT I'm on a low carb diet at the mo and have been training this way.

This is not usual for a marathon runner to do but I haven't noticed any difference in my training so I have been carrying on like this.

SO I'm gonna carry on eating like this the rest of the week.

I'm gonna swig back some superpump at the start line which has been great for cardio training! and take some moro bars, bananas and gels with me, I'm being met at the 1/2 way mark with some more superpump, neurofen and sunscreen. I'll eat the gels if I'm in dire need but even in training this year I ate x2 on my 36ker and x1 banana. They are pretty much just carbs-sugar so give you an instant hit but then you crash if you don't carry on eating them. So I know if I start eating them I will have to carry on eating them for the rest of the time.

I have some treat size moros and they will work the same way but they are actual chewable food which I remember last year I was dying for ACTUAL food by about the half way mark so those and bananas will serve as that.

Otherwise I will have a camelbak filled with water and again take powerade from the aid stations if I feel I need a sugar hit but I haven't trained with that stuff at all this time. Jelly beans seem to get dished out as well along the way I actually hate sweets but they are supposedly a great pick-me-up.

So in amongst all this healthy cardio stuff is a hella lot of sugar- fast acting carbs!

But I'm gonna be burning 3000+calories so this is just a drop in the ocean calorie wise. OH and I have some guarana to take as well -again as a pick me up! and an ipod full of thrash metal- bring it on! :grin:

Oh sorry I didn't think you were actually interested!

I'll be wearing a black addidas singlet and black nike shorts with bright orange trainers and a beige camelbak and running sunglasses I shall fashion my hair into pigtails! Not really my usual choice of colour combo but running gear is in the practical catergory :cry:

It's forecast sun with cloud I'm sure it'll be just perfect! :grin:

Yeppy-doodle-dandy! Been resting so nothing interesting to post, eating all well and praying my blisters from my new high heels heal before Sunday!! I'm SOOOooooo looking forward to it! Some friends are meeting me at different points in the course to cheer me on which is so nice! :grin:

All the best with it! Hope you enjoy it (though I can't imagine how running for hours on end could possibly be enjoyable!!!) - go hard girl!
