Cheap protein powder

There is only one whey to go if you want cheap protein; buy the 20 kilo bags made by fonterra (Alicen 450 etc) that most NZ manufacturers use to make their branded protein.

You'll need a good connection for this now as Fonterra dont do direct sale & the wholesaler is only doing bulk orders from what I hear.

Cost = approx $20 / kilo!!!

I got mine sorted!

That bulk Fonterra product makes the single worst protein shake I have ever had. It's like a fear factor shake, but with added lumps and an odly distinctive smell. And the farting that followed ....

I once had an organic fish shake in Hong Kong that tasted better than that stuff ....

We've always used Alacen 450 - mixes well, no lumps in a shaker cup even.

Davis Trading used to be the place to get it as soon as Fonterra stopped selling direct, however last I heard it was all going export?

Anyway I got some from a pal who had a spare 500 kilos!! :P

Alacen 450 was around $10 kg when I first got it, its now closer to $22 kg. The 895(?) is cleaner but about twice the price from memory. Some of the others are unmixable - kinda like making a shake with cement powder!!!

Good luck finding some!

I have about 10 -12kg of unflavoured whey in christchurch.

I get my protein from work now...

come pick it up for $50.00 if any one wants it.

hook us up..... what kind is it ? ... like 75% protein or what ?

Its just that bulk shit from fontera, I think its 80%+ whey.

Been using powder from davis trading, tastes great (blue top + 40-50g cant notice a difference) no lumps either..

I've bagged all mine into 1kg lots tho, sold most of it already...

I think they are sold out in Wellington, only had 2 bags left when I was there and my mate also grabbed one

  • 2 weeks later...

A lot of people in my gym are buying the Fonterra whey powder from one of the gym members. A lady told me yesterday that she had contacted Fonterra and, apparently, you can buy 100kg for $1000, which is a very good deal if you know of enough people who would be interested in going in it with you. As for the after effects, she reckons it is easier on the digestion than other whey products with all the crap they add.

Hmm, I pay $115 every 1.5 weeks for the shit I'm on at mo. I know where I can get it for $75 but yea, that's the price of convince, an the price of me been lazy lol. At the end of the day I'm sure the companies put at least some research in the the formulation of the proteins powders, as apposed to that bulk stuff, plus I don't think I could stand drinking some nasty shit. I mean, when doing a cut my protein shake is probably one of the tastier things I'm consuming.

$115 every week and a half - WTF!!!! Thats $4K a year for protein! There's probably pros that spend less a year on test!!!!!

You'd be surprised. Must be a lot of research to justify $115 a week!
