Open your gym in Petone bro, I'd definitely join, been at Les Mills Hutt City for almost 2yrs now, its just crazy, too many people at the time I preferr to train, I work in Petone and live in Moera so your gym would be the beez kneez, it'll be my 2nd home, only one problem tho, I'm left handed lol :) any exceptions???? :)

Anyone who ever travelled over 50km in a residential zone has broken the law. That guy sounds like an ass.

Having a built guy working out in the gym would help promote the gym as THE place to train. I woudn't want to train at a place that didn't have serious muscle people working out.

What an ass.

Hope the end result goes your way BK

It's a funny world we live in if speeding in a 50k zone is as bad as importing $2million worth of drugs.

It is, isn't it?

Maybe if you're a recidivist drunk driver doing 150km/h in a 50k zone and run over a few kids walking across the road.

No, That would mean your actions would affect others.. Big kiwi didn't put anyone at risk..

You miss the point Flex where do u draw the line ? are you trying to say that there are no people with bad drug convictions, assaults, etc training at Les Mills. You can go along the road of saying it is worse than drunk driving which it is but still what is the point u get kicked outta the gym ? And it is funny that the moral high ground is coming from someone who has a person smoking Marijuana on their avatar :)

Ok so importing 200litres of GBL and GHB into NZ doesn't effect other people? You can't tell me that was all for personal use. GBL is a date rape drug of choice for many seedy bar flies so don't tell me this doesn't effect other people.

I'm not sure I do miss the point. Yeah there probably are other people training at Les Mills that have convictions. As I said earlier though, most of them probably aren't spouting off about their convictions on public internet forums nor will they have been featured in national newspapers. Drugs, both recreational and performance enhancing, have always been associated with gyms and bodybuilders, however not everybody in the industry likes to have the effects of it shoved in their face or have their businesses associated with it.

And yeah it's real funny that I've got Arnie smoking a joint in my avatar. Oh the irony of it.

From a commercial point, body builders have a reputation for being arrogant, noisy and somewhat intimidating to normal gym goers. As a gym owner I am more passionate about building my membership with the 80% of members that are there for lifestyle change etc.

i think you need to have a small population in the gym as mainstream members are always interested. But if you have a culture thats too heavily focused then you will scare people off. (Unless that's what your aiming for _ and if that's your market then all good). No disrespect to anyone on this site implied.

In saying that, if I hadn't sold my club, I would have liked to have BK in for a train or as a member if he wanted to. Just because someone makes a poor descision doesn't mean they can't add value to their communities or assist in helping others not to make the same poor descisions.

Yep u are entitled to your opinion which is fair enough :) actually alcohol is the date rape drug used bar " bar flies " as u say and this is legal. Yep I made a poor decision which I have paid the price for .... I am sure many others have made mistakes and broken the law as well....... What u do forget is that it was legal and I made a silly decision after the law had been changed. If it was still legal no one would even care. It is good to see Flex is willing to but his opinion out there good on you Flex :)

Yeah true alcohol is legal and in reality contributes to many of society's problems.

If G was still legal no one would care but it's not legal now mainly because it got abused, was difficult to dose right so lead to a few overdoses, and was used by a small minority in a way it wasn't intended. You might have made a silly decision and done your time but it's probably still fresh on some peoples minds. As I said in an earlier post maybe in a year or two it won't be an issue but a month after getting out on parole is probably a little too soon to expect everyone to be sweet with it.

What a dick!

Who? Me, Arnie, Donald Rumsfeld?

Les mills is probably the biggest self image driven gym in NZ so its probably no suprize the manager did not want you in there ruining their squeeky clean image.

i wouldn't sweat it too much mate, i'm sure there's many other gyms that would be proud to call you a member, just win a few title's soon and gyms will be offering you free membership, i see it happening a fair bit.

Mate I feel for you. I quit working for Les Mills a month or so ago, it seems I did not fit in with the culture there also

Group fitness is their main focus it seems, people that do not fit inside that box can and do feel uncomfortable training there. I've had a talking to for putting my dead lifts down too fast... (the fucking clamp broke off, and the bar had no grip left on it!).

Does anyone find this defamatory?

Les Mills obviously thinks it is?

I don't, you don't actually say anything bad about them.

Provided what you guys are stating as fact actually happened, you're fine. Truth is a defence against defamation. You just have to be able to prove it.

The rest of the topic is made up of people debating and discussing the ethics of this issue - honest opinion is perfectly legitimate as the matter is evidently of public interest.

However, I have changed the title of this topic so that "BIGKIWI SUING LES MILLS !!!!!!!!!!!!!" will no longer show on the front page. I did this because I hadn't heard of any further developments here, so I've assumed this topic title had become inaccurate. BigKiwi, if I assumed incorrectly, and the title is still appropriate, let me know.
