Bouncing jobs in Akl?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, just got a question re bouncing/security work. I'm currently working part time during the day and studying part time. Due to the need for a bit extra $$, I'm looking to bounce maybe 1 or 2 nights a week. Friday nights don't work for me, but could do basically any time else.

I know Thursday is generally one of the busiest nights in bars and pubs, so maybe extra staff would be needed then.

Anyone have any ideas how to go about this? Just go find a manager in the Viaduct and ask? Anyone know of any openings?

I've been offered a few bouncing jobs, but none in the last year so those offers are void.

Most door work is contracted out these days and not run directly by bar management. However there are a few doors that have in-house security but not many. Most door hosting firms are always looking for guys...but depends on your experience I guess as to which ones will take you.

Saturday night is definately the busiest in the city. For Thursday work you're talking Takapuna/Albany and High Street in the city...

I'm sure it helps if you have experience in conflict management, excellent communication skills, self defence, drug awareness, incident recording, licensing laws, health and safety, emergency procedures and first aid though aye SM?

haha yes I was a bouncer for 6 years

Right thanks SM and BG, that's a start. From what I've seen most guys get into the industry through word of mouth or being recruited, the jobs are seldomly advertised, if they are I'm clueless as to where.

A bit of help on how I could get in touch with suitable firms would be helpful if possible. I might take a trip down High Street soon to talk to some managers.

Unfortunately I have no real formal doorman experience, but am pretty well spoken and have first aid experience. 6'4 140kg, NZSM 2007 is all I've really got going for me.

haha I have worked for a number of bars : 15 years bar work / 6 years bouncer, not including whore houses thanks 2guns. In conjunction with working full time during the week. I only gave up bouncing as I discovered at the time I was pregnant which doens't mix well.

He might like to work at Family with you SM?

What sort of bar do you want to work at? Type of clientele / music etc...

I'm not really that fussy to be honest. I wouldn't fit in at a place like Family or maybe an RnB only bar, but I'd generally be up for anything. More of a quieter, upmarket place than an ear-bleeding club would be good, but I really don't have much preference.

6"4 140kg...That's some good stats.

Just go speak to managers next time you're out. Dress nice, remain sober and ask to speak to the manager of some places you'd like to work at or try calling them during the day. That's how I got my first bouncer job anyway.

For starters try:

Red Badge Security

Chivalry Security Providers (CSP)

Both companies do some pretty shit venues however are usually hire anyone from what I hear...CSP used to be a rather well run company with some high profile bars but recently they only seem to have shit doors (dannys/foxes/empire) cos of muppet doormen...Red badge does alot of events and I think they run met/code as well...

Both should be in the whitepages...google them

If your up to a little night work, just call any of you local Security companies and ask if they have anything on offer.

As it stands at the moment most companies do not require you to have your security levels only a COA which they will usually pay for while you work for them. The works not hard and not as confrontational as Bouncing.

If its bouncing you want to do just go ask at anyone of your local clubs or bars during the day and they will give you the number of the person or company that supplies there bouncers, otherwise the owner may simply give you a job of the bat.
