As a sidenote guys, Fitness World on Gt South Rd has Musashi Bulk Protein for $60 for 3kg. It has a combination of Whey,Soy and Casein + added aminos. Not top of the line low carb powder but very economical compared to most others. Esp for those on a tight budget.

If you do happen to get your hands on that protein can you please post ingredients/content?

Fontera is a pain in the ass with replies, I had to wait over 2 weeks myself until I emailed them again.

No wonder it's burning down, people are getting mad.

I'll try to find the reply they sent me regarding protein, but no promises.

By the way, I personality haven't tried Fontenra's stuff. Back when I was doing Olympic Weightlifting, I used to train in Gillies Ave with Nigel Avery and other weightlifters as well as many powerlifters. My ex-coach was a powerlifter himself, so he introduced me to all the guys there. Apparently, powerlifters ordered that protein from Fontera and this is how I got to know about it.

Keep bombing Fontera, they'll reply.

Mercury, where exactly is this place with the Musashi deals ?

You dont have to look any further than the boards own sponsers. SupplementsOnline has the exact same deal, for the same price, but whats even better is that they will freight anywhere in NZ for FREE.

Heres the link,

Have you guys calculated what your getting out of this.

$60 for 50 serves - works out at $1.20 for every 24 g protein - and it's a mix of whey, soy and calcium caseinate.

The BV aint that flash and your paying as much as what you could get a good whey concentrate or isolate for and it has added carbs including dextrose (the highest GI you can get)

Soy is one nasty protein for males and should be avoided at all costs.

Think before you act on cheap protein.

I wasnt looking for a protein powder when i bought this, i was looking for around a 50/50 blend which it roughly is.

Heres the full list of ingredients.

Whey Protein, Soy Protein Isolate, Calcium Caseinate, Medium Chain Carbohydrate Polymer, Dextrose Monohydrate, L-Arginine, Glycine, L-Methionine, LHistidine, L-Isoleucine, L-Leucine, L-Lysine, LPhenylalanine, L Threonine, L-Tyrosine, L-Valine, Herbs (American Ginseng, Saw Palmetto, Schizandra, Guarana, Smilax, Gotu Kola), Fibre (Psyllium Husks), Flavouring.

Aside from the soy content i see no problem with this product. Do you know the bioavailable number?

flavoring is bad... and if ur using it for PWO, its not good because of the fibre in it. 60g for 24g of protein is pretty crap... no offence. personally (and i only weigh 81 kg, i know theres guys who weigh more), need about 45 - 50g of protein per! PWO (not including workout drinks etc), id give it a week lmao (then theres the soy...) i spose tho, it depends what ya want, if u want just protein, ull get it, if u want extra this and that, carbs etc then youll get it (i spose it wouldnt be tooo bad for a MRP during the day)

Well, lets say just for arguements sake that we look at only the protein, it still has 1.2kg of protein in the bucket. It only cost $60 thats $50 per kg of protein, sure it may not be the best of the best as far as proteins are concerned, but thats not what it is...look at the label 'bulk'. Its not a product that someone on a strict diet only wanting a protein isolate is going to want, its a mass gainer for someone on a bulk.

Im looking to up my calories, adding 4 or so servings of this into my diet is going to provide round a bout an extra 100g of protein, 100g of carbs, most importantly almost 1000 more calories.

When i look at it like that it seems like a good deal to me.

when i was living in Sydney I used to get 20kg sacks of ion filt. whey protein shipped over from NZ thru what is now fronterra. I think - and this is going back 4-5 years - I paid about $70 aussie all up for the sack and the delivery.

Ok - the stuff was unflavoured and was harder to blend than the expensive stuff but i was saving plenty and just added natural flavouings or whatever i liked to the blender and made my home baked shakes.

If i was u - see if you can still get the stuff in bulk and share the load with some buddies and do your own thing. Whey protein is cheap as chips to produce and the cost to buy it here (as it is ovewrseas) is extortionate.

It's pretty much bs but it is a good source of readily digestable and easily taken protein when more delectable morsels like roast chickens are too hard to run down in the vast glassy plains of the supermarket savanah
