Tanning Products

Recommended Posts

JanTana gave a beautiful dark chestnut color with only 1 or 2 coats. This was the most gorgeous color I've come across, smells delicious and dries real quick.

I didn't get rid of my water properly on the day :naughty: (its all a learning curve) so I sweated on stage ... and my tan was a mess :x ---not sure if this is because basecoat needs to be 'set' with glaze..? Is this the case Sheta? (maybe I just gotta get my dehydrating sorted & not try and be clever and try new things  )

Hadn't used shimmer before and think I had way too much on at Waikato.

Everything washed off easily and the Jantana has left me with a nice looking tan this week (not jaundiced looking at all-just a deep golden color)

This weekend I'm using Phil Kabakhoff contest colour day before and a coat of shimmer before going on stage. I'm liking this range and looking forward to using on Saturday.

Hi PK,

The Jan Tana doesnt need to be 'set'... I saw you when you came off stage and was pretty surprised to see your colour had run; what did you put on top of the JT?

Ive used the full Jan Tana system and have also tried it with Dream Tan on top and had no colour running.

Let me know how you go with the products this weekend... the stage lights can warm you up, & increase 'sweating'. Lucky the show wasnt at Taranaki; you would have slid right off the stage as the lights down there are damn harsh.

I put 2 coats of Phil K contest color on Saturday (still got some good color from Waikato) and then shimmer before going on stage. Love this range and talking with distributor it sounds like the key is getting a good base color and using the shimmer just as shine before going out.

I love it how the shimmer just washes off with soap and water...my dreamtan days are over. This is the product I will use in the future. Here's some tips from the distributor:

When applying the contest colour (over Friday? day before comp)

1. Use a sponge to apply

2. Apply 3-4 coats over the course of the day

3. Blow dry between coats

When applying the shimmer coat, don't try to put it on like dream tan. It needs to be put on like a cream, rubbed on.

  • 4 weeks later...

Forgive me for asking but what was the final verdict?

I am 4 weeks out from my first competition and I havent given much thought to the tanning, well maybe thats not entirely true. Probably safer to say that I am somewhat confused about the options, when to apply, base or no base, do I use shimmer? the list goes on.

So........

Can I ask for opinions about what product or combinations and when to apply them, what has worked for you and for anyone who has online photos to prove it tell me where :D

Thanks in advance, and again sorry for bringing up an old topic.

Thanks Grant

Perfect answer and even the pictures to prove it, although you are a little darker than me what do you recommend in regards to how many coats and when to apply it. Should I use the shimmer on top and should this go on for judging and the night show, and what did you apply it with.

basically anythng you can help me with would be hugely appreciated, PM me if you dont want the masses to know (sorry peps) :pfft:

Which is the better Dream Tan? number 1 or 2? Every bodies thoughts.

#1 = golden (lighter)

#2 = reddy/brown (darker)

depending on ure undercoat i think as to which one u use, i prefer #1 it looks more natural and nicer, but i think under lights #2 give muscles better look? but same thing applies to both-use alot
