Yeah I've seen a few people over the years. It's an old injury that involves some vertebra which lock up in a twisted position and then everything goes into a mad spasm. It just takes a while to settle.

Doesn't seem to be much that can be done for it, maybe I'll try a chiro soon if this doesn't improve. :(

goodluck with that man

Thanks - I really appreciate that.

It's not the end of the world. I've got my health and I am still putting on muscle at a reasonable rate, so it's a glitch more than a major problem. :)

I just don't fancy the idea of a slow decline as I head towards 40, so I want to get on top of this now if I can.

I am also looking for an alternative tri exercise. I was trying reverse grip bench press, both with a BB and on the smith machine but it was hammering my shoulders, so I've given it up.

I think I'll try a thing called a JM press next. Looks like a cross between close grip bench press and skullcrushers. I am not convinced that my wrists will like it much but it's easy enough to try for a while.

i agree it looks hard on the wrists there.

i huge advantage i found of using smith for cg is i can use suicide grip aka thumbless grip (which i was never crazy enough to try on regular bench), and i can really focus on the tris more
