Nice CG benching mate, sucks when you dont have a spotter aye. I have tried doing CG bench in the smith machine and it was okay, it was very awkard at first but once i got the bench into a good position it was great. Really felt it in the tris too, gave more of a pump than regular oddly enough

Id rather use a bb but smith allows you to go heavy without fear of getting pinned. You should give it a go.

yeah i might try that aye.. i was actually thinking about it today when i saw sitting there with no spot heh

After almost getting stuck under the bar while doing CG bench a few weeks ago, I moved that exercise and a few others to the power rack.

It's not as convenient as just grabbing one of the flat benches but at least I have some way of saving things if it all goes pear shaped.

BTW Jono - sorry if this is a silly question or if it's been asked before in your journal thread - do the weights you've listed include the weight of the Olympic bar?

Thanks

Ash

my gym has no power rack, just smiths machines.. which sucks.. it has like 4 of em it would be sooo much better if it was 4 power racks instead.

id much rather not use the smith . it locks you into a set path, and your not using any stablisers to keep the bar steady. we'll see how things go.

yeah they include the bar. which is standard oly 20kg bar.

so a 100kg squat is 2 20kg plates on each side etc.

That's definitely a very strange gym. :)

I would really miss the rack at my gym but I suppose all gyms have got their eccentricities. Mine's got an awkward seated leg curl machine but no lying leg curl and it's got a hack squat machine that is just horrible.

I've started using the smith machine quite a bit but I make sure to do similar exercises using free weights as well

Thanks for clarifying that.
