i would say in general most cerial are crappy.

i very good breafeast is: a BIG bowl of oats, i just add water to mine & a big protien shake (or some other protien)

resting is very important. i find 3 rest days a week (from weight training) works well for me

edit: oh yeh dont 4get all ur vitimins and minerals, and fats eg flax seed oil fish oil etc

I'm with jono - most cereals are loaded with sugar and preservatives. If you eat enough of them to make a dent in a bodybuilding diet, the results might not be pretty (or healthy). Plain old oats are the answer for my breakfasts.

100g of oats

300ml of superlight milk

a banana

some honey

and a scoop of whey (drunk separately because it doesn't make the oats taste any better)

gives me just over 100g of carbs, 50g of protein and 10g of fat - which is about 750 calories, or just about enough to get me to the next morning meal.

Don't skimp on breakfast.

BTW - the oats are cheap, which helps

great i might have to get some oats, i have to finlish the creals first

soo oats with green top milk do you heat it up or just eat it cold ? and a protein shake, that would do for the morning

i just have my oats with water slightly heated. i dont cook em cos i can eat it faster this way. i use light blue top milk in my shakes lol.

also have some fats, eg tablesoon or 2 of flax seed oil

Sad to heare about the breakup with the missus mate. It always seems worse that it really is, it just takes time. Go out with some mates and have a good time and take a day off. Let off some steam, then get back into the training when you can focus.

Sorry to hear about the break up jono - that sort of thing is never easy. Just hang in there and keep training - I always find training helps me when I feel like shit.

If I were you, I wouldn't aim to keep increasing the lifts if your focus isn't quite there and your mind isn't on the workout. It's a good time to solidify your form and try new movements.

Sad to hear about the girlfriend Jono. It's the worst feeling imaginable & I know exactly what you're going through.

Quitting training would be the worst thing you could possibly do. The depression that would follow could possibly push you over the edge man.

My advice to you would be have what DC calls a cruise. For two weeks still go to the gym, but lift to 80% intensity & don't train to failure. Stop short. It is hard because you'll wanna push yourself on some of your fav exercises. Use this time to take a mental break. Look around in the gym, enjoy life, etc. The motivation that should build up in this time will also help.

Also with your deads seriously getting up in weight i'd really consider using a belt man. Specially with lower reps.

Hiya Jono,

Sorry to hear about the breakup.

Totally sympathise with you on this one 'cos I went through this a while back. I was lucky in the respect that my girls rallied around me to make sure I was always busy (which is what I would recommend to you - if you're always doing something, it doesn't leave much time to think about things!) But it is hard, and you might not believe it now, but it does get easier to deal with over time.

Training was also important during this time though (there were days I arrived at the gym with big puffy red eyes.. SHAMEE..) but I just felt heaps better afterwards.

But like everyone else has said, take things easy, switch things up, or even take a few days off, but don't give up your training! You inspire and motivate alot of ppl on here

I agree whith what everyone else has said. Breakups are always hard, and if it was a long time GF then its likely to be devastating.

Try not to get too down about it mate, you never know, even though it may not feel like it now it may be a blessing in disguise, with your fab new bod in 2006 maybe you gonna land an absolute stunner, or meet someone who just blows your mind

As far as the training goes, i would say try to keep pushing as hard as possible. One of the things i like about BBing is that when your in the gym doing your workout, your totally focused on the task at hand.

I would say use your spare time to fully immerse yourself in some good old BBing, hell you may even want to twice a day workouts for a short period.

I think its great that you posted your feelings, we are here to support you mate, if you ever need someone to talk to there is noone better than a fellow BBer.

Onwards and upwards mate.

If your strength is still rising, I don't really see a point in terms of changing the exercises, just keep doing what you're doing.

Points to consider though...

You might want to lower your overall volume because you're cutting (I think) while still maintaining the intensity. Don't go overboard with failure training. Take care with injuries/training on low calorie intake. Include some re-feeds later on.

Good luck and all the best in the new year.

I agree with Ash, Jono.

Try some completely new exercises to take your mind off things. The more complicated the movement, and the more concentration it requires, the better! Just go a bit lighter for now, though.

im skeptical of new exercise conssidering im still making pretty good gains.
