But it does make a huge difference - my calves got so many compliments when they first turned up hairless

You use wax? sounds painfull, never waxed etc because I have never thought of competing. Chest would look better I guess, so is it wax?

its not that bad

You're thinking of shaving making the hairs grow thicker. But even that's just a myth... There have been numerous studies done over the last 70 years disproving it. (But despite this, you'll still find people swear their hair got thicker once they started shaving :P )

Waxing MAY have a thinning effect, but it's only short-term anyway.

Hair grows in 3 cycles. First the follicle grows the hair, then it sits there for a few weeks (in its "adulthood" if you like), then it falls out and the follicle rests for a bit before starting over again. With waxing, the "adult" hair is pulled out - so you're left with the empty and the dormant follicles, and the next set of little baby hairs about to come through. This is why the hair's temporarily sparser and finer.

As for the pain... it takes a MAN to wax... :pfft:

if you can make it through a hard leg day, you sure as hell can wax.

I've had my legs waxed for over a year now (my sister is a beauty therapist) & my hair grows no where near as thick as what it used to, & doesn't grow at all in some areas. The hairs do come out a lot easier too.

I'm on the home straight now.
