The pump Vs. lifting heavy

Recommended Posts

so im wanting to put on some size at the moment, for the challenge of corse

gonna stick to the heavy compound movements etc, however i was wondering

on exercises like bicep curls, calf raises, even bb rows and the like, if im after pure size is it better to go light and high reps to get a real good pump or go heavy with lower reps which i dont feel as much but get stronger off.

???

mon: shoulders if needed

tue:legs - heavy,back-light

wed:off

thus:legs-light,chest-heavy

fri:off

sat:chest light,back-heavy

just wondering if i should cut out the light pump sessions and just go heavy as getting good progress atm but wanna step it up a notch.

I can't say I have ever trained a light chest into a heavy following day.

I would go heavy myself but would look to get a double hit in a week by spliting

Chest and biceps together/ Back on its own and Shoulders and Triceps together. 4 days is my normal offseason - Jan 07 weight 128kg (22inch arms) bfat was high though about 18% (no cardio off season!)

Two sessions on one b/part in a week makes me harder and ropier - generally can't lift as heavy.

Not sure if this helps?

Shoulders if needed?

Hitting the same bodypart twice a week should be left to advanced trainers.
