China, Turkey, Iran in 2008 Olypics Weight Lifting

Depends on which weight class you're talking about and final entries for O.G.

China usually dominates lower bodyweight classes as their heavyweights can't match European power. Turkey and Iran are likely to take gold in 77kg and 105+kg class respectively. Russian team will try to dominate the heavy weight classes, along with Bulgaria and Ukraine. Will be interesting to watch as there's going to be many very close battles going on in each class. Video coverage in NZ of course will be crap but Eurosport is good if you're a fan of weightlifting.

On a side note, NZ Team recently gained 2 Olympic spots to Beijing by beating Australia, Nauru and Samoa at Bruce Mason's Centre this past weekend. Well done Team.

Yeah we got a bit of coverage during the weekend which was good to see. My neighbor taped it, I just have to figure out how to transfer video from VHS to digital format, anyone got ideas?

94kg-Jono

Is this you, Big Mac? What is it about all these shy powerlifters hiding their achievements?!

As for converting video to digital, you'd need to hook up your VHS player to your computer through a video capture device. Here's one from Dick Smith's for $90. That might be more than it's worth for just one video, but DSE does have a good returns policy.

Haha, no I'm 1.94m and 135kg, bit big for 94's. Jono Selkirk is the guy.

NZ team for Beijing will be Richie Patterson (77kg) and Mark Spooner (69kg).

I've had shoulder injuries for the last 18 months, which will hopefully be sorted within the next 2 months or so. Maybe then I'll get on the Oceania team.

but mean squats anyway,

are u from durban?

Cheers. I'm actually from Port Elizabeth, which is the western most bit of Sharks territory. Don't support them anymore though, just wear the shirt in the gym. Been here 5 years, have NZ citizenship and pretty much lost my RSA accent.

Looking at getting myself slowly to 140kg by later this year, but always trying to bulk without getting too fat.

No wonder you have shoulder problems, Big Mac. When shoulder-pressing people, you should do both left and right sides. Also find a few lighter children for front raises, or you risk a muscle imbalance.

Haha, sounds like a plan.

Nah I just got an overuse injury on my left shoulder and that's been made worse by a weak upper back. Would be alot easier if the doctors and specialists didn't treat me like an anamoly and just gave me well placed cortisone shots. At the moment my left rotator cuff doesn't enjoy snatching anything north of 120kg with a wide grip.

Which for someone who gave up shotputting to focus on Oly lifting, isn't good.
