3 white 200kg, 3 red 220kg, 3 red 220kg.

Went down wayyyy too fast on first 220kg, below parrelel couldnt get back up.

Went down fast again on 2nd attempt of 220kg, went way below parralel, couldn't come back up.

Think it was a nerves thing, I usually go down well below parelel but a lot slower. I fucked up the technique on the 200kg but managed to bring it up anyway - 220 was too heavy to get the form wrong. Good learning experience, hope to get some good numbers next comp after a lot more practice. Was my first ever day using knee straps, maybe I should have done it raw?

Cant wait to get back into volume training this week. Feel fat and sluggish at the moment. Low rep compounds just don't burn n just as much calories or my eating was overboard. Weighed in at 115.50kg in just shorts the morning of the comp with only 1 meal down the hatch so far, was over 118kg the same night.

Went on a massive bender last night to celebrate, got home at 630am, and haven't eaten much today.

That makes sense. 150 bench is surprising given the 200 raw.

If you're not used to competing in any individual sport, it's quite easy to mess up the first few times you compete. When I started out shotputting, I would throw half a metre further in training than in competition. After 18 months of that, I would throw further in comp than training due to extra adrenaline. Same thing goes for lifting.

Regarding the knee wraps, probably would have been a good idea to go without them. It's just about never worth trying something new on the day of the meet, practice like you compete. Sure a new, tight pair of knee wraps might give you 10-15kg on your squat (depends on the lifter), but they'll make the lift feel different and add another variable into the mix.

Yeah, was really suprised with lack of bench strength on the day. I only learnt how to pause last Tuesday  I have done 160-180kg with a proper pause, 200kg is more of a down and up with Damons hands guiding the bar. Theres always the next comp :D

Do you think the straps are what might have thrown my form off?

It's possible the wraps (straps are what go round the bar to help you hold on) threw you off a bit, but they def wouldn't have made you drop too quickly. Kinda depends on how tight they are.

I use some stretched out wraps and put them on loosely for support, they don't give me more than 5kg. Tight wraps could well change your groove a bit, I would guess.
