Arnold Classic this weekend!

This big event is on in the next few days. It will be interesting to see how Jo Stewart does in the Amateur Women's Bodybuilding class, plus of course Moe Moussaoui in the Arnold Classic Pro Men's class!

My pick is Jo to place top-3 in her class (but hopefully win!) and Moe to be a challenger for top-5 but it's a much tougher lineup than the Ironman 2 weeks ago with the likes of Phil Heath, Gustavo Badell (1st & 2nd at Ironman), Dexter Jackson, Melvin Anthony, Branch Warren, Kai Greene etc being there. My pick for Moe - 5th or 6th which would be exceptional in that lineup!

Live webcast of the Pro divisions can be viewed via:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/2008ac_wcschedule.htm

By my calculations, the Women's Pro finals will be on from about 1pm Saturday (NZ time) with the Pro Mens pre-judging starting at 6am Sunday and finals from 1pm that day (NZ time).

Yeah Moe must be a contender for a top 5 finish. I'm picking he will be even sharper than he was 2 weeks ago. I'm real keen to see how branch warren looks. He is massive for his height. I'm picking phil heath will take it out, the next 3 or 4 placings could be a real battle.

Phil has stayed away from the big meets for a reason and going by the Ironman photos looks like he is ready to take on the big boys. He might just be that "breath of fresh air" that IFBB have been looking for. He certainly has the package to give the top 5 Olympia placegetters from last year a good run...hmmm....Im gonna go with an upset.

Heath to take it out over the Blade, Badell 3rd.

Give it to them though Moe!!!

Have to say, the more i look at pics from the ironman the more impressed i am with moe.

Just for a bit of forum fun is anyone keen to have a little wager with me?

I will bet 20 bucks moe gets in the top four at the arnold.

first person to accept the bet in this thread and it's on . :)

Here's a couple of pics from the prejudge of her. There's not very many pics of the other competitors in her class, but the ones that there are, it looks like Jo should nail it and take first!

will be good to see how they compare side by side.

if they both dial in 100% i think dexter would win, but its all about who looks like what and when that counts

Not when Phil has calves twice the size of Dexter's. In my opinion Phil is more complete.

Then their is Kai. He has put on a lot of size. 300lbs in the offseason. If he nails his conditioning he'll be a contender for the top spot.

now I'm usually the biggest fan of shape and aesthetics there is....but Branch Warren!!!!!

Spectacular condition, amazing thickness (terrible front double bis- needs flexability to lift his arms higher)....but I LOVED WHAT I SAW- best back shots of the day- Head to toe, traps to hams and calves, hands down.

Top 2 in my book watching the webcast, bet I'm wrong.

I don't see Phil as being close to Dex,

IMO 2 Unluckiest guys in the show -Moe and Ronnie Rockel - rough callouts, I'd have Moe pretty up there.

My picks:

1 Dex

2 Branch

3 Kai

4 Phil

5 Silvio

6 Moe

7 Gustavo

8 Melvin

9 Toney

10 Ronnie

However- my vote doesn't count, but thats the way I liked it

Hmm ... looks like I got my timing wrong! I misread EST for PST on the times, so I was 3 hours out with my predicted show times. I've now amended my original post, so hopefully I now have the finals start time right (1pm today).

Gosh, that's interesting about Branch Warren! I haven't seen the pics or video yet, but it sounds like he has nailed his condition to match the impressive size that he usually brings to an event. He was good in Aussie a couple of years ago, but he was not as ripped as Ronny Rockel and Lee Priest at that show.

Dexter Jackson wins from Phil Heath! Moe didn't make stop 6, but probably wouldn't be far behind. Greene 3rd, Warren 4th, Samuel 5th and Badell 6th.

Funny comment from Dex when interviewed by Arnold on stage after the announcement:

Arnold: "So, how much training do you do?"

Dex: "Oh, about one hour a day"

Arnold: "What, one hour! What happened to the good old days when we trained for 5-6 hours a day?!"

Dex: "Well, we have MuscleTech products now!"

Classic! No guessing who Dexter is sponsored by! :pfft:
