Smolov Base Meso Cycle - Week 1 - Monday

Skwatz

7 sets of 5 x 125kg

First two sets weren't feeling that flash. Changed the music on the gym system to the "squat music" playlist, problem solved 8) .

Anything else I could be bothered doing

Nothing

Restoration/Active Recovery

Didn't have any DOMS coming into the workout, but my hip felt a bit iffy. Warmed up again with the agile eight, and stretched afterwards. I had a good contrast shower when I got home on my posterior chain. Would do it on my hips but I don't fancy cold water on that side, for obvious reasons.

Injury Status

Think I did something to my wrist today, it's been a bit iffy.

The bar with the good grip also happens to rip my back up, might have to revert back to a normal bar tomorrow to let it heal up a bit.

Rest and Foodz

Heaps of steak, chicken, oats and bagels. I think I'll be piling on the weight over these three weeks...

ud think Rose was your gf the way you two go on

i keed i keed..plz dnt beat me (more to rose. not realy skared for u SS :lol:)

It was difficult to motivate myself so I rewarded myself after each set with a peanut M&M :D

this time last year i woulda gone crazy reading that :P

how we doooze

good consistent training as usual. whens the next meet/comp?

I wondered if you'd pick up on the M&Ms comment, you probably just do a search of the site every day to pick up any new comments about them. Next meet is in (late) November, big gap between meets for me so want to step my total up a lot.

Besides, you just put the M&M reference in there as bait to entice Small back to the boards....

1200lb + raw total is the goal. Looks like it's going to be made up of mostly squat and deadlift if my wrist continues at this rate! And I'm sure we'll be busting out some sort of team haircut.

Skwatz

10 sets of 3 x 132.5kg

First time squatting on back to back days. Wasn't feeling flash coming into the session, and the bar was hurting the hell out of my grazes on my back. But then I got into the zone... Part animal, part zen master. I ended up monstering the weights, I think I got through the ten working sets in about 25 mins. I got really aggressive at the bar and all the reps were pretty easy. Then in between sets I relaxed on the incline bench and focussed on a different quote on the wall and what it meant to my training. Didn't feel any pain at all during, but once I finished all my sets the pain/tiredness hit me like a freight train! Bring on the rest day haha.

Anything else I could be bothered doing

Nuttin'.

- Agile eight warm up

- More foam rolling tonight

- Maybe ice my hips a bit?

Tried to bench the bar today, the damn angle benching puts my wrist at aggravates it...

Rest and Foodz

Decent sleep last night, still demolishing the food. On Monday I weighed in at the gym (with clothes etc. on) at 95kg exactly. Today I weighed 96.5. With creatine + all the food I'm eating I'll probably end up hitting 100kg gym weight within the month.

Next session

4 sets of 9 @ 120kg. Big step up next week, +10kg to all days.

I realised I was pushing shit uphill when all I got back was this insightful info:

Basically loosening up a muscle in my forearm. Plus some general mobility stuff and adding a little resistance in there.
