Pseudonym
This may be a controversial suggestion, but if you can't meet the budget with the flax seed oil included, I'd leave it out. I'm sure it's very good for you, but not at the expense of protein. And the wider the variety of protein the better, in my opinion.
2guns
u dont need flaxseed oil! its not a nessecity!

Sprinkle a tablespoon on your meals.Buy bulk bags of rice and potatoes, cheap frozen fish, whole frozen chickens, bulk bags of frozen veg and a bottle of whatever XV oliveoil is on special. Laver
thanks for the good reponce fallas!yeh think i might drop the flaxseed idea, maybe think about it again a little further along in my bodybuilding career, i think the basics are more important right now than particular stuff! IronGame
IMO those essential fats are very important, I just checked and its 47c per 100 gm ( $1 worth will wast you at least a week lol) just put it in a coffee grinder if you have one or a blender/foodprosessor, pestle and morter or alternativly chew properly lol. And make sure once its ground to keep it in the fridge.

I think ideally Im supposed to have about 15grams of Omega 3 a day, whichs ends up being 100grams of Linseeds, which is quite a bit to eat really! A cheaper alternative to the oil however, just less pleasant to consume and more labour intensive!
IronGame
100gm is easy, gring it in the morning and add a little to each meal. It's not just the quantity of omega 3 though its the ballence between all your fats.Im a big advocate of mega doseing with fish oil's to, especially for athleats 40gm+ a day will do wonders for everything from bodyfat reduction to healthy joints to optimal brain function. IronGame
Well if ya wana nit pic  I said $1 worth which is about 30gm a day and if your also getting your fatty acids from other foods then that should be enough
Laver
iM INVESTIGATing a cofee grinder, aswell as other bits of my diet, should be fully into in by the 14th janurary, bring on the gains!
Laver
Well look at that, I said i'd be fully into it by the 14th january..Instead im about 90% into it, on the 11th, So im quite glad.If anybody is interested, last semi accurate weekly cost for food is just under $60, waiting for a good sale of chicken and tuna, should be able to reduce cost $5 a week with a decent sale, speaking of which... does chicken breast ever go on sale; here in Wanganui standard price is about $14 a kg, do supermarkets / madbutcher put chicken on sale as they do other items, I was hoping to get a sale of around $10 a kg at some stage! Laver
Oh and also, just trying to fine tune some things. Trying to find somewhere I can buy these in bulk for a good price;Chromium Picolinate 200mcg, so far best found is 90 200mcg caps for $30Vitamin C, in the states you can buy 200 1000mg capsules for $10US...here so far all i can find is 100 500mg tabs for $10, just from supermarkets, online NZ shopping hasnt found anything cheaperIm quite happy to buy like $100 worth of each bulk quantity, so any knowledge of where I can get from would be great! Also with the Vitamin C, What about just buying straight absorbic acid, in powder form for example? Goldberg
IronGame is correct about the flaxseed IMO, also olive oil is cheaper and just as good, He is also correct in saying its thew balance between your fats, not how much you have. When it come's to buying Vitamins and such, don't do what what most do and look for the cheapest, honestly there is so much crap out there, most people are just pissing out there supps, do some research and find vitamins that actually work and are produced in the right ratio's and quantities for your health, they should also be pharmacutically produced. I'm pretty sure all the broccoli goodness can be found in both lol. I've frozen fresh broccoli before. Just made sure to cut them up before freezing... makes life easier. Twitchy
In respect to your earlier post, get chicken from a local butcher. butchers will be very forthcoming in trimming things to customers needs, whereas supermarkets and chainstore (suvch as the Mad Butcher) pretty much only sell as is.As for freezing broccoli, in general yes you can, however it is better to snap freeze pretty much anything of nutritional value. As such, frozen veges are a better buy if you are going to store anything in the freezer. Microwave them in a bowl (so they steam in their own juices) so you loose as little a possible of the goodies that vegies hide inside.
