Worst noob question ever- but please answer

Okay, so I've been looking at pics from different shows in NZ and to my untrained eyes I can't see many differences between the different womens categories, particularly figure and physique. It looks like some of the women could compete in either category.

Can someone please briefly explain the major differences between all the categories? Like relative muscularity, body fat levels etc.

Thanks

I think you'd get the best answer by looking on both NZFBB & NABBA websites as they give explainations regarding each class. I agree that some competitors look similar and could go in either, (some do swap around) and sometimes competitors just misjudge their body types. You really need to get the opinion of someone who has a qulified eye when deciding what class to go into.

I couldn't agree with you more on this, Evie!

While many top competitors and trainers can give good advice on class selection, I recommend that competitors with any doubts seek out an experienced judge from the organisation that they intend competing for.

After all, it is the judges that will decide your "fate" on the day of an event, so why not seek there advice BEFORE you get on stage. Getting feedback from them afterwards is also an excellent idea - to know what to improve on for future comps.

If anyone wants the advice of an NZFBB judge in their region, flick me an email and I'll put you in touch with them.

From what Ive seen, Physiaque girls can often be more 'thicker set' and have a lot more muscle.

On the other hand, a few of the physique girls arent into the 'glam' of figure. A couple of girls I know cant stand heels and 'girliness' so they compete in physique.

Bring on the heels and sparkles for me any day!
