rollesbygirl
Very cool how the NZFBB have posted their proposed calendar for 2008, does anybody know when NABBA might do the same?

MasterTel
NABBA usually don't publish their calendar until Jan or Feb each year. One reason why we (NZFBB) sorted out our calendar early is to help reduce the likelihood of date clashes next year. I spoke to a couple of the NABBA event organisers earlier this year and they are as keen as us to avoid clashes next year. Sometimes having events on the same day is unavoidable, due mainly to venue availability. Most of our dates are now confirmed - the only tentative dates are for the Wellington champs (April 5, 12 or 19), South Island Champs (Sept 13 or 20) and North Island Champs (hopefully Sept 27).rollesbygirl - I have Marianne Poole's (NABBA Secretary) mobile phone number ... send me an email and I can give you her number if you want to call her. rollesbygirl
Just received email from Marian from Nabba - as follows below:-We are confirming venue dates at the moment. We release the Event Calendar in late November early December each year, keep an eye on the web-site, it will be there as soon as it is available. You can use this years calendar as an indication of events, as it is very similar from year to year.Best I get myself into gear then! :dancing:
gmm
Just received email from Marian from Nabba - as follows below:-Best I get myself into gear then! :dancing:RollesbygirlHow many shows you thinking of going in and what class? Just being nosey really. I'm looking to go in the physique under 55kg but only going to do the South Islands in the first go.... then will see what happens. Would be great to see more women entering the physique classes. How's the creatine working? Also why only a 4 week cycle i.e. the science behind it (again just asking out of interest)- I have heard a 6 week cycle, then 2 weeks off and start again, is quite good as takes a week to get it into your system. rollesbygirl
Creatine worked wonders - it did work out to be a six week thing - one week into it - four weeks on it - then one week weaning off - found an increase in strength, did the weighing right through and hopefully after body comp done will report an increase in my pipis then in another month start again etc etc. When you get on that stage gmm you will be incredible - you look good now, and I agree more girls needed!Me - just working away quietly, starting with April Nabba and see where the journey takes me. gmm
Cool, cant' wait to see you - both MB and I had commented that you were looking stronger so I'm sure the body comp results will reflect that. Thanks for the words of support - I am loving the focus and training heavy (people at my work think it's a bit odd though - wanting to increase in size). I guess dealing with others comments is part of the sport April show means you'll have to be fairly good through Xmas which is good. I find Xmas hard. May have to use you as inspiration!!! rollesbygirl
Yes the food thing will be interesting although I actually like the routine and regiment of the dieting having been through a member of the household doing it.....It is of course when you start dieting that you start to see the benefits of the hard work in the gym.I can relate to the negative comments from workmates, I get the "if you go to the gym so much, how come you are not skinnier" thats my favorite, or " do you really want to look like bloke" but at the end of the day, this is my own journey and its not about external validation (although wouldnt it be easier)I am rapt that you have also decided to compete, the most daunting part for me is the whole first time, other make it look so easy and I have this recurring nightmare of stage fright on the day!Catch ya soon
Sheta
Hey there Rollesbygirl,Work comments are a pain - wait till you start stripping down and then you may have to contend with 'dont lose any more weight', 'you look anorexic' and the great one after a comp 'so can you start eating now?'. Ignorence with other people about this sport can be painful but its a damn great time to educate...especially if you show some people exactly how much you do eat; it usually freaks them out.As for stage nerves...my first couple of shows I'd find a spot out in the crowd to focus on so I didnt think about all the people looking at me. Be confident and proud of what you have acheived and that should show on stage!
Kiwi
On stage you don't really see the audience - just a few people in the front rows then a whole lot of blackness.....
rollesbygirl
Thanks Sheta for the words of support. We saw you at the Nabba Nats and you looked awesome.Yes I know totally what you mean about the comments about eating normally, I have got those comments regarding my partner for the last two years with his competing, and I have actually given up trying to explain it.I am starting to feel quite excited about the journey ahead. Yes thanks Kiwi, I know what you mean, spent years playing in orchestras and doing drama so the stage is not the scary thing, I think its the whole "not wearing mch clothing" and trying not to fall over in the stripper shoes that gives me the recurring nightmare haha
rollesbygirl
Ooops forgot to say welcome to the forum, always nice to have an experienced member to lend some advice to us newbies :thankyou:
Sheta
Thanks for the compliment....looking back on Nats I definitley carbed up a bit much and felt completed gutted as I saw my abs disappear before going on stage. Never to mind - I still accomplished my goal of placing in the top 3.At the NZFBB Taranaki show I did things a bit diffently with my food - espesh as I blew my shoulder up and couldnt do any training between the 2 shows!! Hopefully I can be of assistance on here - and pick up some new pointers for myself. I love everything to do with body-building. From planning, training, eating, sorting outfits, music, routine and of course the grand finale - show day!! Meeting others that are like minded is also a great part of it!
