The best fat burner is ephedrine and thats if you can get it.

The best fat burner is exercise. Ephedrine's nice but only if you have a local drug dealer you can get it off and don't mind running the risk of being caught with a Class C drug.

MZ- You should be able to lose 4-5kg fat just through your diet and exercise, however if you need to use something to speed it up, go with a decent stimulant based thermogenic. Most of the good ones will get pretty much the same end results as long as you don't buy some cheap nasty thing from the supermarket or healthstore.

I wouldn't bother with CLA - too expensive and most people won't notice too much unless your diet is really tight and you're already pretty lean.

Caffiene is alright but isn't going to help you set any major records for weight loss.

L-carnitine might help, and is most beneficial on a really low calorie diet. You need to use much higher doses than what is recommended on the container though. NZ labelling laws only allow a max dose of something like 500mg which aint going to do jack. You really need at least 2 to 3g a serve for it to give any noticable effect. This makes most l-carnitine supps a little uneconomical.

Just how effective is green tea?

I recently bought a large box of 100 teabags from my local Chinese supermarket for about $4. I felt pretty pleased with myself at the time, but unfortunately the taste is utterly vile.

I think I need someone to tell me that green tea is super-effective at fat loss so I can force myself to drink it. :P

  • 1 month later...

Green tea did nothing for my partner, but when she tried Black Tea (which is a stronger (%157 stronger) version of green tea - if you look it up the net you will see the story behind it) the effect was very different, she shed a lot of water that she was holding and it has not come back. Beware though as it goes under the name of Wu Long or OOLONG - many yanks etc are selling it online at stupid prices, however, on ebay uk there is a guy who sells it really cheap, which is where i found it.

As for ephedrine, being a class c drug (which im guessing is bad right?) can you not grow your own (i think it grows at high altitude only - so a mountain would be handy) or for example what if someone was to send it to you in say a sealed multi-vit tub? would it make it through customs? surely they only look at the outside? they wouldnt send it off to be analysed right? just a thought.

I mix 5 green tea bags in about 1.5L of water, leave it overnight & then drink it cold. I notice a thermo effect from this.

al-ex - up to you if you want to risk it bro. I would say there is a high likelihood that it would be checked. Ephedrine is a big no-no in NZ at the moment.

Hey Marcus, i don't know if i would risk anything as yet, i was just suggesting a possible way around a problem.

As for the Green tea thermo effect, trust me it feels 10 fold on the black tea - its well worth a try - metabolism goes through the roof. I have had it cold from the fridge (what i call the korean way as it was a korean friend that first showed me that that was what they all did) but now i have found that i prefer it hot and with some lemon.

I'd recommend green tea capsules as they're way stronger than green tea bags. If I can't afford the dosh for a decent fat burner I usually have (before AM cardio - on empty stomach) - strong black coffee, l-carnitine, green tea caps and 3-4 caffeine tablets (approx 50g caffeine per tab I think). Usually about 20-30 minutes before cardio. This is usually only in the last 8-10 weeks prior to contest though. If it's just for general fat loss, you should be able to manipulate your diet/exercise enough to drop the weight.

The only fatburners I've had decent results with are Hydroxycut (standard/hardcore), Xenadrine and Dialene (Scivation). Dialene is quite new, not sure if you can get in NZ yet? But it's safe for naturals if you're in a tested federation.

I've heard good things about Hot Rox too, but unfortunately 'cos I'm a tested athlete I can't take it.

Thanks for that Truds, that sounds kinda like what I'd been doing before AM cardio, less the green tea caps. I might see where I can find them.

This has been a really helpful thread :)
