MasterTel
The tentative NZFBB event calender for 2008 has been posted on the NZFBB website. These events and dates were agreed at our last meeting just over a week ago.I have just emailed the NZFBB secretary to correct a couple of things on the current website list - notably that the 2008 Nationals will be in Wellington (at The Opera House), not in Auckland. Also, the North Island Champs in Masterton will ideally be in September - either 13th or 27th, not in early July. The Wellington Champs date is also to be confirmed - this will depend on when the IFBB Australasian Champs is to be held. Ideally the Wellington event will be one week prior to this event in Australia.IFBB New Zealand Elite & Pro Elite Amateur Show - 15th March 2008Wellington Champs (Wellington) - 19th April 2008 (TBC)Auckland Champs (Auckland) - 28th June 2008Sonny Schmidt Classic (Auckland) - 17th August 2008PIBBA Champs - 6th September (TBC)North Island Champs (Masterton) (TBC)South Island Champs (Christchurch) - 20th September 2008 (TBC)Central North Island Champs (Tauranga) - 11th October 200831st NZFBB Nationals (Wellington) - 18th October 2008Coromandel Classic (Thames) - 25th October 2008
waldo
Jeez MT, having the Wellington Champs in Auckland may cause a stir.
MasterTel
".. Wellington Champs (Auckland) - 19th April 2008 (TBC)"Jeez MT, having the Wellington Champs in Auckland may cause a stir. Ha - thanks, mate ... my typo has now been corrected! I'm still in comp prep ('Naki show this weekend), so I'll blame it on the diet!
michaelk
Jeez MT, having the Wellington Champs in Auckland may cause a stir. No stir there, we had the Sth Island invitational Nationals here a couple of weeks ago, judging by the influx of Southern competitors....it seemed nearly every damned name read out was from Christchurch. The rest were from Wellington. As to the Wellington Show MT, let me know if you need a guest poser, it'll be a month after the New Zealand Pro up here and I'll still be large and in good shape and if you need. I may even bring the date of the Wellington event forward a week to April 12 to encourage competitors doing the Elite event on March 15 to stay in shape for it. It may also suit competitors doing the Australasian champs to have a two-week gap after the Wellington show (rather than one week) before doing battle in Sydney. That's assuming Paul and Carole Graham have their event on April 26.
michaelk
Great minds think alike, I was looking at the calendar and thinking that bringing it forward would enable you to leverage off the Elite show competitors, it's always easier to conquer two shows with one diet. We'll have to talk some more, PM me when you've got a date confirmed.PS congrats on scoring the Nationals in Wellington, a just reward for your hard work over the years. MasterTel
PS congrats on scoring the Nationals in Wellington, a just reward for your hard work over the years. Thanks, Mike. While being given the chance to run the Nationals is a big honour, my main motivation has been to give the large contingent of competitors and local bodybuilding enthusiasts down here the opportunity to have this big event close to home. One of my training partner reckons I won't be able to resist the chance to also compete at the 2008 Nationals. I told him that while I have competed at two regional events I have also organised, I wouldn't dare do it at a Nationals event! He wasn't convinced, so he has made a bet with me that if I do compete at the 2008 Nationals I have to walk the length of Courtenay Place (the hub of Wellington night life) late one Friday or Saturday night wearing nothing but pink posing trunks and jandals! :pfft:

So I guess we will see you next year marching down Courtney Place in your pink trunks and getting groped by ever drunken person on the street. Perhaps this should be mentioned on the Nationals poster. Sort of like an encore to the event itself. :-)Evo
rollesbygirl
Do you think that Keith Jolly from Muscle Imaging would be available to do a DVD of the pink posing trunks, I would personally be keen to purchase a copy. Great news for us South Islanders about the Nationals in Welly, definitely makes it an easier trip
Pseudonym
With a bit of advance planning, we could mount Keith's camera on a bike and have it track the length of Courtenay Place alongside MasterTel. Hmm... You shouldn't have told us this, MT!

waldo
!! a great way to give bodybuilders an even worse reputationYou obviously haven't seen Schwarzenegger in Stay Hungry. Classic scene with all the bodybuilders running thru the city jumping on cars posing and generally stopping traffic.
