KETOSIS???

...the brain prefers ketones as a source of energy and runs better on them...

i dont know where you get your info from but this is wrong. The brain can use ketone bodies as fuel but is very ineffective. the muscels how ever need carbohydrates so acetyl co enzyme A can enter the kreb cycle to produce ATP which is the energy source muscle require during exercise. so a low carb diet isnt good for this.

maybe you have heard the term DKA (diabetic Ketoacidosis) where they donot get enough carbohydrates and there for suffer from this and almost die.

going into ketosis pre comp under guidence is fine but be careful what information you pot on here because what you have said is incorect.

but in respect to what your saying i could be wrong in the sence that im referring to the brains preferred source is under a state of ketosis....which would be obvious hehe

ummmmm to be honest im gonna have to read up to see what is prefered in either state , but i guess it comes down to how u fuction best.

for me im more stable in ketosis rather than blood sugar drops and all that with a glucose metabolism.

i really wish people weren't so dogmatic with training and nutrition, i've seen people get lean on low fat high carb diets, and people get lean on low carb high fat diets while feeling great. anyway, heres a link to an article that was written in a sports nutrition journal saying that ketosis is all good for brain fuel:

This is from Marieb human anotomy and physiology sixth edition:

when ketones accumulate in the blood, ketosis is the result with large amounts of ketones excreted in the urine. ketosis is a common cosequence of starving, unwise dieting (INADEQUATE CARBOHYDRATES ARE EATEN). The outcome of ketosis is metabolic acidosis.

The bodies buffer system then cannot tie up the ketones fast enough, and blood pH drops to dangerously low levels.

in sever conditions the bloods pH gets so low the acidic pH depresses the nervous system, leading to coma or death.

pg 968 6th edition

lydon just thought id throw this up, you are right to say the body can use ketones as a fuel source it is just not reccomended for long durations.

hope this clears it up :)

awesome , joel knows me so he will let u know if i die any time soon

after not seeing you for a year, i'm sure you looked healthier and more energetic than before. your not permanently ketoned anyway if you carb cycle. i've also read somewhere that your body doesn't have as many ketones present once your body adapts, as it burns fat more efficiently?

don't all the veges you eat balance out the acid? aren't carbs acidic too once metabolised?

i'm trying it out to see if it will give me an 8 pack for summer, i feel pretty decent so far. kinda following the anabolic diet method.
