big MAC
Mike, sorry to tell you but strongman has pretty much died in NZ. If I were you I'd head down to the one in MT Eden Old Bull posted on.I'm disappointed that the sport doesn't have much following here, after finishing with weightlifting I was hoping to get into strongman, but getting to WSM or overseas comps seems to be pretty difficult. mike-311
Yeah, I had a creeping feeling about that especially after I read an article about one dude who competed, who went on to say it was mostly cardio type events, but he did really well in the strength events. You just dont hear about it anywhere at anytime in the media.I kinda wondering if powerlifting maybe the way to go.I just want to be a part of something especailly locally if possable.Im not into Bodybuilding compitions, nothing against it, just not for me.At the moment I only use it for my job in security which is handy, but not the be all, end all. I'm not in powerlifting due to all the supportive gear use and feel I have better Oly lifting potential. No reason why you can't do powerlifting and compete in strongman/oly lifting for fun, same with highland games which are on a few times a year.
