haydz0r
With almost 2 grams of healthy fiber and just over 100 calories per half cup … have you tried the nutty flavor of brown rice? What’s more, whole grains -- such as brown rice -- may help reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers, and may even contribute to maintaining a healthy weight.Brown rice takes longer to cook than regular white rice (about 45 minutes vs. 15 or 20 minutes). However, it's easy to cook a larger batch and enjoy more than one meal for your effort. My answer has been answered! Mod can delete this unless its worth keeping. chur

jeremyb
Get a rice maker or just buy the microwave rice
Dragonlor
better off getting a 1kg bag of brown rice for like $2.50 and cooking a big batch in a rice cooker. Getting the microwave bags are like $2.50 for only 250gm so it's like 4 times the price. Just cook it in the morning before you goto school
Pseudonym
I made a risotto-type thing over the weekend. It was pretty damn awesome, if I do say so myself. Pseudo's Pretty Damn Awesome Brown Rice RisottoChop and fry up an onion in a dollop of oil. Add 2 rashers of bacon, roughly chopped. Chop and add a couple of sticks of celery and a good few mushrooms. Keep frying gently. Add plenty of sundried tomatoes until it looks like there's enough red bits in there (I use kitchen scissors to chop these - much easier than a knife).Add 1 cup of brown rice (200g), and stir in 2 large teaspoons of beef stock powder. Add 2 cups of water, and turn up heat to bring it to the boil, stirring occasionally.Lower heat, cover, and simmer for about 40 mins. You may need to add more water and keep cooking if the rice doesn't look soft or sticky enough.
teamfatboy
I use brown basmati from New World - takes 25 min go-to-whoa to cook, drain, stick in fridge... eat cold with salad :idea2:
teamfatboy
Ooops - my bad. that wasn't 'brown basmati', what I meant was 'Sunrise Brown' ....either way, it keeps for a few days in the fridge and isn't as hard to eat as other things I've tried. IronGame
Brown rice also freezes very well compaired to white rice, cook up a large batch during the weekend and portion it out in to baggies and chuck it in the freezer, when your ready to eat just nuke it from frozen
SamWelly
Yeah just freeze it bro. I oven roast 1kg of Chicken a night, and 3-400 grams of brown rice at the same time. Takes about 20 minutes all up. When you want to eat just pour hot water thru the rice with and sift/strain. You can also freeze broccoli as well. Construction Soldier
you can add a touch of cinnamin( sp cinamon?), just put some in half way through when there is still water in the pot. adds a little flavour
queen
I do one of two things I cook a large batch and freeze 6 portions for the rest of the week individually. It can then be microwaved or I buy the microwave packs Otherwise Ill cook the rice in a saucepan with water and add vegetables as if for a soup with chicken breast until all the water is absorbed and the chicken gives it flavor this I also freeze in containers for the rest of the week.So yeah I usually try and do it once so I have prepared dinners each night and just need to boil fresh vegetables. I am too busy to have time to cook every night properly.
