Happipat
in advising 1 x warm up set followed 1x failure set, why do so many routines prescribe 3 to 6 sets? Has anyone tried this routine? Cheers on a damp Sunday afo...

Pseudonym
Personally, I don't feel like I've had a workout after just 1 or 2 sets. I'm surprised that exrx.net gives that advice - normally I really value what they say.Don't take any advice as gospel - try different things & see what works for yourself.^ Take this advice as gospel.
Happipat
Personally, I don't feel like I've had a workout after just 1 or 2 sets.I know what you mean, but we wll know what we 'feel' to be right ain't necessarily so. They have the research to back it up, and say subsequent sets gain only 0-5% and can even reduce gains.I'm going to give it a go, but do two warm ups on the big muscles as these old bones can get injured easier than a few years ago.
