Protein shakes as a meal substitute?

keats

Recommended Posts

Does anyone substitute meals with shakes? Sometimes I have no time to prepare a meal and throw some protein in the blender feel bad about this but wondering if it is as bad as I think. Still getting the essential aminos I need through this method just not as good as a decent meal. What does everyone else think??

I tend to differ, i know the protien powder keats has got has a good deal of carbs in it, soooo it wouldnt be that bad. Essentially shakes are replacements for meals anyway arent they??? i maen if you have say 7 meals a day most of us will have at 3 as shakes yeah?

What do you use keats ? I think there is nothing wrong with a shake as a meal replacment as long as it is not in place of one of your main meals of the day

If it is full of carbs then it is essentially a meal replacement shake, if it is straight whey then my opinion is the same as above.

I have to pack mine with oats to fill me up.

Yep, I do the same most mornings for my post-workout meal - 40gms protein powder, 1 cup oats + water in the microwave for 3 minutes then add a chopped banana.

When dieting for a comp I also regularly have protein powder mixed with water before I go to bed.
