POWERHOUSE!!!

Kia ora koutou,

On thursday my class from weltec went on a feild trip to the Power House gym in wellington city. I must say I was totaly buzzed out on the atmosphere the gym had. The gym was wall to wall with squat racks, iron, steel and concrete. It felt like a place the greats like Arnie, Cuttler and Coleman started their body building journey. It felt like a place where Legends are born. Although it sounds like a body builders paradise, the Power House gym is essentualy set up for strength training. Speacializing in olympic, sumo, deadlifts and bench press.

For a small membership numbers compared to other gyms around the wellington reigon, the gym pumps out quite a few New Zealand reps and they hold a number of New Zealand titles. I think this is due to their ultra competative nature. Their members enjoy making a competition out of anything. I mean anything!!! Almost all members look like average joes, concentrating on buiiding strength rather than muscle size, although this is the case they do cater for body builders as they do have a few members who do bodybuild.

Woman also enjoy being members there because they dont get hit on.

I could go on a bit more and talk about how they bend bars and make their own gears and how they encourage eachother and how raw and primative, conan the barbarian style gym it is but I wont......

The Power House is a no frills, all, I don't know what to say other than it's the ultimate gym I've ever been to!!

I want to be a member of that gym!

Next time you're in town, honestly check it out.

Well that was my opinion.

Nice review, nzidol! Thanks for that.

Old Bull, I think you've got a fan! :D

Cheers P

They had just come from Les Mills the week before so it was a bit of a cultural shock.

Got one now  so will work on getting to Double Digits.

My 2 cents

I think if you are into any strenght sport or you take your training seriously and hate the 5 o'clock rush that all gyms seems to have ... it is a place where your training will prosper.

If you like your gym with some " ATTITUDE " but prefer the members to be easy going ... you will really enjoy what it has to offer.

The Powerhouse Gym is world famous and without a doubt one of the premier strength training facilities in the Oceania. Highly underutilised in the capital city but this might be a blessing for those that train there already.

Olympic weightlifting, Strongman, Powerlifting, Bodybuilding...its got it all! I tried leaving there a couple weekends ago with a power-station, 170lbs dumbells and a Glute Hammy machine tied to the top of my car but OB managed to get them off me in time ...lol

If you are visiting or living in Wellington looking for a no-nonsense gym then I highly recommend it. If you like eye-candy, heaps of lycra, lots of mirrors you might be dissapointed!

I have wondered that myself EU, things slowed down after the North Islands, only a couple well 3 to the Nationals.

It could be what is needed to kick it back into gear a visit

Was talking to my brother the other day, who goes in and out of gym training and is currently getting a small fortune taken out of his bank account every week for a gym contract he hardly even uses. Anyway after seeing the House last year he realised how gimmicky all the other gyms that he's ever been to really are. He would join you all (also realises lil bro could push him around now if lil bro wanted to :pfft: ) but then he'd be paying two memberships.

Anyway The Powerhouse rules, if I ever find myself living in Wellington, that'd probably be a big reason why I was

I pretty much agree with everything already said, it's a paradise for lifters who are dedicated to their sport.

I would love to be able to live in Wellington and train there, but right at the moment that isn't possible, maybe in the next couple years!
