Ikkas Journal: Operation 6-Pack

So I've been pretty lazy lately. Eating all the wrong foods, only doing some weights a couple of times a week at best... and now I'm just plain fat. Now athletics season is not far away, and after have a couple of seasons off its time for me to get my ass into gear and get out there.

I'm 6' tall and at last weigh in was 97kgs. I'd like to say that was all muscle... but I reckon I can loose 10kgs of body fat. Now I've never had visible abs, I like food too much and never put in the hard yards but thats about to change. I am going to set my goals as track and field, not weights I want to lift in the gym, as this is a little different from what you might usually see around here.

By the end of December:

I want to have a 6-pack.

I want to break 12 seconds on my 100m sprint.

I want to break 14m on my shot-put.

I want to break 5m on my long jump.

Once I have accomplished all of this, I am joining the Police force.

So I will post here as often as I can with updates, any words of encouragement would be much appreciated. Ill take some before and after pics, but won't post them till December. Here goes nothing!

Where are you at in relation to those goals at the moment? Is your gym routine going to be targeted towards improving those particular goals, or is it more of a general routine?

Ill take some before and after pics, but won't post them till December.

I've seen a lot of people say they'll post before and after shots when they start seeing some progress. IMO, that's taking the easy option. Much better to jump straight in the deep end. If you're taking before photos anyway, why not post them now? That will give you extra incentive to improve.

Im going to do it in stages, my current routine angles towards hypertrophy, which I am going to amp up for the next couple of months to pack on some muscle. Pair this with a diet overhaul, and some basic throwing technique practice and I'll be off to a good start.

Next stage adds cardio to the mix to try cut body fat down more, and start my sprint training.

Then its all out into everything. This is where its gonna hurt  Still need to set some definate dates and timelines for this.

And I don't wanna post pics cos its embarassing lol. Maybe ill black my face out

Good luck on getting the 6 pack! Like they say.. abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym ;) What's your diet gonna look like?

I agree with Pseudo.. putting your "Before" pics in your journal will just add fuel to the fire. If its out there, you've got no excuses

Look forward to seeing you progress !
