Man my mum got the some complaints as your mum.. I tried getting her to read body for life.. didnt get far.. tried teaching her some of the basics of diet and ex.. didnt get far ( your not qualified, you might give me a heart attack - quoting her).

She went and signed up at this gym in new lynn.. its a chick gym.. forget the name.. they rip every1 off..

They make them do weights on the machine... and.... they dont teach them how to do it whatsoever .... (They are supposed to be instructing.. thats why she paid so much- its part of the package')... and they told her never to increase the weight.

Shes been on the first plate of the weight machine for the last 3 months.

I asked her what about others...

she said they told them the same thing.

No one does more than ten reps on teh first plate OF ANY EX machine.

What a shame my mums got an ego too big to listen to me and wont take my advice..

hang on.. it should be the other way !.. I should be the young fella with the big ego..

anyway... i intend to name and shame this gym soon.. as I spoke to a few others and they confirmed their 3rd rate practices.

Sort of related bump. Anyone seen that new Configure Express add?

i have a few mates who go to these gyms as they are located in quite handy places for the chicks.

they think they are very good, besides who says u gotta listen to gym instructors, that particular one was probably just one who doesnt know shit.

if we all did exactly wat they told us to do when we first joined a gym and never thought for ourselves to change/progress the cardio, weights or wateva it may be then no one would ever see much results.

BTW, remember not everyone wants to be a bodybuilder lol

Including me ;)

But yeah, doesn't mean the same principles can't be applied. The amount of BS that comes out of these sort of gyms are insane. My sister was going to one and at one point she said to me "I don't need to eat protein because the machines and my gym are hydraulic"... "What's so great about hydraulic machines?" "Oh they're good for woman's bodies"

No offense intended at all but are your friends really educated enough to make that decision - decide what they should listen to and what they aren't? Of course any exercise is better than none at all, so if it's getting them doing something that's good I suppose. Btw, That particular one was the one on the advertisement on NATIONAL television. It's safe to say what she says represent the views of the whole franchise.

Most people are completely uneducated on training, diet etc. These sorts of gyms take advantage of that to bring in the dosh.
