Introductions are hard, but lets go...

Hello, my name is Neil, I'm 34, married with a young son ( flexing in profile picture =D ). I'm 183cm tall and weigh 94kg currently.

I'm a strongman fan, and also interested in rock climbing, rollerblading and mountain biking. I found this forum stalking Jono Mac, whom I went to Carey with.

I've worked out on-and-off for the last 16 years, never really got anywhere other than fit though. Right now, I've just come back from a 6 month physio stint, and have been given the all-clear to lift again. Thanks to the time off I have lost a considerable amount of both weight and strength, so I'm really looking forward to getting back into training, and hope to participate in a Strongman competition sometime next year.

I train in my garage, and have a custom-made 7' x 65mm bar that weighs ~50kgs, and pretty much only do compound lifts at the moment. Some small dumbbells to supplement if I ever feel like it, but realistically that's never. I was previously a R.O.M. fanatic - preferring to be weak and flexible rather than strong and stiff - but just once I'd like to be super strong too =D Especially now that I'm too old to even dream of being a professional athlete, LOL!

And thats me. Nice to meet you all.

Six months off for physio is a fairly decent stint... what did you do to yourself?

Due to incorrect technique, I tore the radi[ou]lnar ligaments in my right wrist trying to go heavy on clean & press. The physio ascertained that I'd never actually gripped a bar correctly before and had only ever used my index and middle fingers in grip work.  So I was strongly warned against any weight lifting until a) the wrist had settled down, and b) I'd learnt how to grip properly. Ligaments are a slow heal, but I learned some valuable lessons/information along the way ^^ Every time I lift now, I am super-conscious about what all my fingers are doing.
