Top set tonight.

2 sets of 2 @ 170kg + 30kg chains

Weighing in at 77.8kg

Trying to get confident with repping 200kg - obviously this isn't the same because at the bottom of the lift it's 170kg and at the top it's 200kg.

Mind you this is high bar squats so I am pretty happy about that since I always low bar squat. I'm just afraid about depth with low bar. Never failed in a meet but when I look at past videos it really looks dodgy. I'm sure some of you would agree.

Workout finished lol.

Showered and now to make a feed and chill with the wifey and watch that show about partners swapping LOL (serious..)

So tonight's workout was meant to be upper body but I just felt like doing lower body instead. I'll do upper tomorrow then take a week off to let everything recover and start my new program with a coach :O !

Hopefully I'll be a better athlete : )

2 x 2 170kg + 30kg Chain high bar squat
2 x 5 160kg High bar squat

2 x 5 130kg Front squat
1 x AMRAP (as many reps as possible - thought I could get 8. Ah well lol) (lost balance in 2nd rep..)

3 x 4 120kg Band sumo deadlift

2 x 6 Glute Ham Raise

Feeling pumped and hoping the extra quad work will help increase my deadlift since that lift alone has the most potential to help reach my goal :)

In any case, I was happy with tonight. Definitely need a deload - everything felt pretty heavy for sure - 1 more workout then to chill like a fatty

Uploading video now - cheers for wasting your time reading yall!

I'm always impressed with front squats. I've never done them, I find the bar positioning really hard.

I think they are great for quad developement. Infact they've helped my deadlifts alot! Bar path being more on the anterior chain so feel it more on the quads.

Upper back strength is a must for these. I think every squat style is a bit uncomf but over time you get used to it. Why not try 30 to 40kg and work your way up? I definitely will be keeping these.

Hoping to get 1 rep of 180kg at some point lol

Would front squats affect my lower back at all? I have had lower back niggles for ages, I find regular squats, anything over 100kg I feel my spine compresses, do you think front squats would be better on lower back.

Sorry to hijack haha

No hijacking at all man. All good.

It uses minimal lower back like the highbar but more. You have to stay more upright by keeping your elbows up as much as you can otherwisw youll drop the bar.

I say low bar puts alot of pressure on lower back

Anyone else agree?

What's up y'all.

Morning weight: 77.8kg (Friday)

Last night was my last gym session in regards to my most recent training block. I've been looking forward to this. Want my mind and body to have a little rest before the next phase which starts with the new coach. I believe it's going to be NEXT Monday but obviously that could change depending on life etc.

Had a chat with him on skype just to discuss goals etc - very nice guy and I can't wait for him to take over so I stop doubting my self , stop doing stupid shit and to trust the process as well.

Eric Helms did the same for me during my 2013 Nationals prep.

I'm not expecting miracles from coaching because as we all know that powerlifting especially, is very up and down in terms of performance IMO. I see some of the TOP athletes in world and even some of my friends who are National record holders who train in the most specific environments (elieko set ups etc), get amazing coaching and still don't do as well sometimes in their meets.

Looking forward to more optimal training sessions..

Macros were on track until the wife insisted to get KFC for dinner for the both of us. Guess who had to go drive as well.  LOL. That colnol stack was pretty average to be honest. Should have stuck to my macros but ah well. It was fun.

Ended up watching reality TV again - I swear it's our guilty pleasure ay.

This whole workout was a grind. Mentally I just wasn't there but very happy with the bench press considering, can see my arms shaking trying to hold the weight at the top before starting the lift lol. I think if I am 100% fresh I can probably get 157.5kg paused? I did 152.5kg paused which moved faster than this in early July - I could be wrong though. (most likely LOL)

Bench Press:

120kg x 5
130kg x 1

140kg x 3
150kg x 1 (Video)

100kg 2 x 8 (narrower grip / flat back / no leg drive) (video)

Overhead Press

55kg 2 x 8 (Man these were hard.) (video)

T'n'G seal row
3 x 8

Face Pulls

3 x 8

Pull ups

3 x 8

Thanks for wasting your time reading and watching, y'all!

What I like most is how you dressed up in your Sunday best to take this photo for us. Clean shaven, polished shoes, tidy hair. That's the level of respect we deserve.

Our other scruffy members could learn a lot here.

This is how I dress for work haha. Was on my lunch break, races to the courier post to get this !

Told the wife:

"Wont be eating these unless I really need to or travel"

She was like

"What ever.. bet youll eat one every day.."

Challange accepted. LOL

Evening gentlemen.

Just a quick update:

weight: 78.1kg (consistently this week)
Macros: same as before

Had an amazing break from training. 5 full days off from training and I feel brand new. Joint pain, niggles, everything feels so nice and you notice it with every day life.. Getting up from the coach, walking up stairs etc. Everything felt so easy.

Was pulling 210kg beltless like it was nothing. Decided to do doubles with 225kg (belt) - it felt good. Wasn't easy like 210, but wasn't hard for sure.  (no vid folks)

Bench press, nothing new here. 140 for a double felt cake to be honest.

Squats (low bar) felt good on my back. Took my time before unracking the bar so it doesn't feel too heavy. Got 190 x 2 (video) and didn't feel too hard. Depth is an issue though man.. It truly doesn't feel like I am skimping out on depth (mind you on the 2nd rep it did feel like I didn't go low enough, but the first rep felt like I bounced up from the hole)

My new programming starts Tuesday. Took videos from the sides to show the new coach what's up. Told me to lift a heavy weight but not 100% max. So now I am off to burger fuel to refuel.. lol.

BTW I lost the quest bar bet BUT... It's because they have an early expiry date so I have to do what I have to do... The sacrifice is real.. LOL

I truly think I can get a 210 squat this year. If not, ah well. No rush. Consistency + injury free = win.

Thanks for wasting your time reading homies.

Strong as lifts bro. Awesome.

Thanks man! It's never enough though. Wanna make this weight a warm up sometime during my training career.

Wow. That new Bfuel burger is a solid 10 / 10 for me. Was so delicious. Woke up close to 79kg LOL.. Unfortunately it's not muscle gain. I'll level off at some point during the start of next week.

If you are a natural bodybuilder, do everything opposite to me. Don't gain weight so fast, it's not the smartest decision. I am aware of the consequences though so it's all good.

Very light session today which consisted of seated rows, lat pull downs, hamstring curls and lateral raises.

Here's a pic with that natty lighting. Still in decent shape for GC next month but gonna have a couple of beers tonight lol.. Again, don't gain weight fast like me lol.
