justy1
HiThought i would introduce myself, I am a 42 year old female from northland. I have been body sculpting for almost a year now and love it. I was born with a sunken chest. 1 in every 1000 people are like me out of these for every 3 two are male and one is female. Apart from that i have a body that is good enough to beat most of the woman i have seen compete so far. I would love to compete. But how do i wear a bikini top.Does anyone out there have thoughts on this ? or should i keep my clothes on ? I have hidden myself for may years and dont even go swimming your thoughts please. Pseudonym
Welcome to the forums. You've said you don't go swimming, so I take it from that you're quite self concious of your appearance. I think the first question is whether you can get up on stage in front of an audience. I imagine that could be quite a challenge, but a massive confidence booster once acheived. If you can do that, you can do anything, right?!I don't know about the bikini top - maybe some of the girls out there can suggest something. Dumbelldog
I think you would be surprised how supportive fellow competitors and the crowd would be of you, I would worry about what people will think. The majority of people involved in BB are very supportive because they all know how hard it is.

bheeman
Hello Justy! I was not familiar with what sunken chest meant. I did a search online and found out just now what it was. Let me me first say you are a winner in my eyes already. Have talked to any female competitors and asked for their advice? As DumbellDog mentioned earlier, bodybuilders are a very supportive helpful bunch. Ask a few of you gym female friends who are into bodybuilding for advice. Like Pseudonym. I am completely hopeless when it comes to women's outfits so I can't help you here. But I do want you to know that you made the first great step in asking for help. I have full confidence and faith that you will do well in bodybuilding regardless of the fact you do competitions or not. If you do compete on stage, you will not only be an inspiration to bodybuilders, you will also be an inspiration to all those who know you. You are already an inspiration to me! Everyone has something whether its physical or a mental block to get over to get on the stage for bodybuilding  I'd say competing would do wonders for your self-esteem... if you could get up on stage, then you could do anything... as it sounds like your condition has held you back from doing certain things in life. In regards to bikinis - I'd maybe have a chat to Ali Gasgoine, or visit some online bikini websites to have a look at the different styles. There's loooaaddss of different types - patterns, jewels/stones, different cuts that'll flatter the physique, you just gotta talk to the ppl in the know and let them help you select a cut/shape that'll suit you It'll be awesome to see you on onstage in the not too distant future! MasterTel
justy1 - your attitude and courage is admirable, so I wish you all the very best with your bodybuilding pursuits!I saw your initial post yesterday and I'm so pleased you are going to see Ali Gascoine. She is a good friend of mine, and we competed in Mixed Pairs together at the 2005 NZFBB Nationals (which we won .. thanks to Ali!).Ali will be the ideal person to help you - she is not only a very talented designer (I doubt there is any better in NZ or beyond), but she is also a top bodybuilding competitor and a wonderful person. Oh, and don't let her lean 50kg body deceive you - she is a current World champion power-lifter as well!Something else that might be of interest to you - I am on the NZFBB Executive and we have just elected a new Executive member to represent the Northland region. This is to recognise a fast-growing and active bodybuilding community. If you'd like more info, drop me an email and I'll give you some contact details. She made me feel so at ease (even when i was naked in the public toilet trying on stuff). She came up with some good ideas so now i better get my shit together and train. I have a goal that im aiming to keep. See you on stage.
