You need to trim the thick skin off your callouses. It's the thickness of them that causes them to catch the bar and be ripped off.

 

Had what you had happen plenty when I used to train all the time without straps but only ever happened if I hadn't trimmed skin.

I used my wifes foot schol  trimmer thing, but it just softened one up and tore, and has not really recovered since. will work to make my hands like iron gloves, especially around the pinkie area, i find with hook grip it hammers that area

Mon 6/6/16.

Joined up with the first gym i went to in timaru, its a old school bodybuilding gym, real solid equipment.  got all the classics. cable preacher curl, butt blaster, seated calves, standing calves x2, t bar row, lying hamstrings, nice gear. far better than the modern shit you get at snap. owners have just changed and the original owners from back in the day have brought it back, it used to be bit of a hardcore bodybuilders gym. the owners that had it had let it get run down a bit and there are alot of broken shit etc, the new owners are looking at upgrading, platform etc. Ill still train at home, but for what im trying to achieve it will be nice.

Done in under an hour, kid was sick at home and could not piss around, missus was also training with me. pump was sickening. goal going into nationals will be to lean out and gain some mass while staying injury free. Whenever i go alot of bodybuilding work, my total is better. also going to be going a bit of cardio/conditioning work, want to get down a bit so im super confident for weigh in and i have a bit of room to eat before weigh ins night before etc

Did cardio this morning, 30 min walk. Trained in commercial gym again, squat rack poverty, got weider plates tho, sound sick rattling around. squats felt smooth, real happy with form and bar path, racked it before form got ugly. had a pt and client miring for dayz. they thought i was the strongest dude ever lol. The hack squat is the best ive used, most gyms dont have them any more, instant quad pump, dont need much weight either.  Also worked out that front squats/ upper back  strength could be a issue. the 140 front felt good going down, but upper back just gave out in the hole. front will be something to work on

Great session, pretty happy with the slingshot bench. Hard as work at lockout, was grinding them triceps! Feeling good atm although there is a lot on outside the gym. glad i got straight back into the gym this week

Glad i got in today, pulled on my new Solid strength equipment power bar for the first time today, what a difference, better knurling, way stiffer than the volt. my guess is that was why i always struggles getting to a meet and pulling on a eleiko after always training on a whippier bar. It felt harder off the floor today, hopefully should adapt and have a bigger pull! Really tring to hold my form on these sumos too, did not push them too far or hard, my sumos are average, but doing my best. I do think deads are pretty technical, and i think training with quality form most the time matters. welcome back too hook grip too, felt nasty whole time

Good session, bench on the amrap set felt off, couldnt make up my mind weather to do paused or tng, ended up being about half and half, felt better on the paused sets tho, triceps are still ruined from the slingshot work on Thursday. will take tomorrow off as have to pick wife up from airport tomorrow night

dosent powerlift, just lifts in the gym, does more rep work. her goal is to lose weight, if she actually stayed consistent she would get pretty strong. she has the most  gifted calves  ever, the fukin hooge. pretty sure she calf raises more than me too. just does the whole stack for dayz

I totalled 18.1 x my gf bodyweight lol.

 

Bigken why not just make her catch bus to and from chch. Be cheaper than gas and save 4hrs of your time.

Yeah, know. kind of a pain in the ass. easier to just pick her up, her flight times were a bit weird and ive worked it out and its around the same $$ for a bus, my Primera must be super efficient lol. she is catching a bus to Oamaru for a course on tuesday tho

Got in and out in just over an hour, had to get back to kids, wife away atm, hips were locked up a bit today, couldnt really hit my normal depth, last rep got a little stuck at my sticking point, weight felt ok though and after a busy week with f*ck all sleep so far (only got 4hours the other night) im pretty happy with it, i def cut the front squats a bit high, but it the most ive touched beltless on fronts.
