Hi there, need some help on water retention on comp day

thanks for the reply so quickly. Ive made the mistake before of cutting to much water out the day before a show and looking flat, last time I kept drinking the day before and just stopped approx 8pm night before and let my body naturally rid itself of water overnight and I looked heaps better but really trying to get that dry look under the skin without going flat. as odd as it sounds I also kept creatine in as kept me full wear as the time before I cut creatine 2 weeks before and went flat as well.

Are you loading and depleting your water, using diuretics etc? What water levels do you run normally? Do you manipulate your carbs?

All of these factors can influence your physique come comp day.

Tell us what you do last ten days before a comp..

Well what d i say, your pic looks like you get hard, well no diuretics for me. usually if I look good I do nothing different before a show except cut water the night before. As my previous reply to my last question states what I would normally do.

I thought for next comp in 9 weeks I would load a little sodium week prior, carb deplete 3 days, while carb depleting double water intake from normal intake then load carbs(not going crazy) and half my water intake for those days and cutting all sodium. Have never tried this but though I might give it a go. Previous show came in at 98kg so aiming for approx 96kg this time approx.

I used to not measure water intake as prob did not take in enough. Now I measure water intake and drink and piss all day. I drink approx 6 litres a day.

Sorry for the late reply, been a while since I last competed (8 years or so) and needed to find my old notes to make sure I remembered it right.

OK:

I drink 4 litres a day when I start my diet (12wks out)

On the monday before the show I increase to 5 ltr through to Friday when I drop my water to only 300 mls in the morning then nothing till after I weigh in (register).

Then I sip mouthfuls (very sparingly) during the day of the show.

The concept is that the body discharges the water at a set rate based on a 4 ltr intake and by increasng and then dropping the water on the day before the show the body doesnt have time to realise you are not taking in the normal water intake and continues to discharge.

I have to point out that I take a herbal diuretic (nutralife) 3 days before the show to increase the discharge process.
