  • 1st day of the seventh week of Special Series of Competition
  • Third day in equipment on Special Series, after missing most of last week because of Bronchitis, I wanted to see where I had dropped too.
    230 felt good, went to 245 which I tripled a couple of weeks ago. This was a good set, very happy considering the past week. Was mulling over my drop sets, which I do at 2% drops. This is quiet taxing so I was thinking of doing a 4% and maybe 2 sets. decided as we have 3 weeks to go to just do qne drop set at 2%.
    This is where the fun began, 1st rep was god, second the same, but at the top of the second, I was just on my toes slightly. Tried to correct this, started to tilt forward, tried to get in into the racks, it was gone. So dumped 240kgs straight over my head something new, I have joined a exclusive club in The House of forward Dumpers. Bit stiff and sore but no biggie.
  • Bench went well, tried a F6 got 130 to a good touch and pause, so will work over the next 3 weeks at a good triple at this weight or a bit more.
  • Good Squat, and a Bad Squat Good Bench.
  • a couple of photos not as bad as I thought.

  • No Squats with Chains, have dropped these leading into the Comp.
  • Board work dropped to a 3 Board, that took some sting out of my numbers. Will perceiver with this for the next 2 weeks.
  • Deads were so so, after missing the last weeks Deadlift session, I hopeful that I had not lost to much. Got the straps up on my Velocity, but it was still tough to get into the right position. Have one more session to to get it right, body weight should be right by then.

Notes:

  • 1st day of the eighth week of Special Series of Competition
  • Eighth day in equipment on Special Series. 230 felt good, was going to go to 245, but decided just to go to 240kgs. This was a good set, very happy considering the past couple of weeks. Was mulling over my drop sets, again getting close to the comp so decided to drop these and get a good deload. Still got openers next week maybe on Saturday instead of Sunday Church.
  • Bench went well, tried a F6 got 130 to a good touch and pause, went to 135 good touch and go. Took that off and put my 46 Fury on did 140 touch and go. Most weight I have done for a while.
  • Good Squat, and a pretty Good Bench.

Notes:

  • 3rd day of week 8 Special series of competition.
  • Board work dropped to a 3 Board, that took some sting out of my numbers. Today was a bit tough got out of line on the last rep of the last set.
  • Deads were a complete balls up, wanted to have a good session after missing one DL session a week ago. Weight has come down, so was hoping the Velocity would work better. Got the straps up on my Velocity, but it was still tough to get into the right position.
  • I have been doing so much work with the straps down, that it has affected my straps up. I do not put the straps up till 210ish, so today same thing. I had difficulty getting in the right position, even with the grip issues, had 2 shots at 210, then decided to change to my loose training suit. That did not work, so the TP suggested putting the V Suit back on but going down to a lighter weight and come back up.clap.gifclap.gif This worked well, got me into the groove a lot earlier, so I went back up, 210 was good went for 220, missed the first grip, then second got to lock out, but grip went. Decide that was enough for the day. Was thinking of straps before this lift but flagged it.
  • Had some serious grip issues, which affected the whole session, not till late it the piece, did I realise some f*@kwit had put baby powder, in the chalk bowl.wallbash.gif Just thought my hands, were having one of those days. Will see how things go, on the day, but may re adjust my opener.
  • Big ups to the TP Quigsta, for pointing all my brief work and not enough with straps up, but also suggesting, to drop back down, to a easier weight and put the straps up at that weight.clap.gifclap.gif Chur
  • Was not going to post last training sessions, but this will be good to reflect on later

Notes:

  • 3rd day of the eighth week of Special Series of Competition
  • Ninth day in equipment on Special Series. Today was openers, we decided to bring Church forward, from Sunday to Saturday. Give us a bit more time for de loading, 8 days to be precise. Just rearranged my attempts, from my normal training jumps. Changed 210 to 205 which brought 230 back to 225, which left a 15kg jump to my opener. Warms felt like crap, 225 was wishy washy, but the 240 was really good. Had thoughts that if this did not go well, I would try it again, if that was not good, would take it down 230ish. Walkout was good set up strong, and the descent was fast but slowed towards depth for some reason. Good pop and strong finish lift felt real good. Checked video bang on parallel, so come comp just push it another notch.
  • Bench went well too, decided against the F6, would have used this for the opener and maybe second, then change to the Fury for the third. Did not want to go through the hassel of changing shirts, so put the Fury on. 130 was good with a pause, and reasonable lockout, will rectify at comp (just did not fire right through). Stopped there will leave, 2nd and 3rd attempts, for the comp day.
  • A good day, after tough starts in both Squat and bench, very happy with the session.

  • 2nd day of the Ninth week of Special Series of Competition
  • Squats All Done with the three Ns, No Belt, No Wraps and No Spotterlaughing.gif
  • Bench PAUSED first rep on the first 2 sets. Then stepped it up on the third. First 2 reps were 3 second PAUSE'S and the 3rd was 4 Seconds.
  • A couple of niggles in the Adductor's, so I am icing as I type, stretching, foam rolling and resting are the order now. Been a good cycle, will have a few changes in mind for the next one, now just see if this produces the results.
  • All it depends on now is my 3 friends in White Shirts, with two flags in their hands as long as the White one is raised I will be a happy chappyshoutingforjoy.gif if one is red still happy.

Thanks Rach, I think I enjoy the Training more that the Competition's dunno.gif hopefully all goes well.

enjoyed fallowing the build up ob, solid block of training under the belt now enjoy the rewards 8) !!

Weight: 103.4kg very surprised at this

Squat

Warm up: Loose Suit Bar x 5, 60kg x 4, 80kg x 3, 100kg x 3 120kgs Belt and Wraps 140kgs B/W

Add 44 Centurion: B/W 160kg x 1, 180kg x 1, 200kgs x1, 220 x 1.

1st Attempt: 235kgs 3 Whites

Good depth, not as crisp as I wanted, but an opener.

2nd Attempt : 245kg 3 Reds

Set up not as good as i wanted, shy of depth. 3 Reds for Depth.

3rd Attempt : 245kg 3 Reds

Setup better, sunk this one, short on depth, same 3 Reds.

Bench Press

Warm up: Bar x 5, 45kg x 4, 65kg x 3, 80kg x 2

46 Fury: 95kgs x 1 3 Board, 105kgs x 1 2 Board, 115kgs x 1 1 Board

1st Attempt 120kgs 2 White 1 Red

Fast off the chest and the same through to lock out. 1 Red left foot not flat?

2nd Attempt : 125kgs 2 Whites 1 Red

Fast off the chest, good at lockout, Red for the Head

3rd Attempt : 132.5kgs 3 Whites

Same as the last 2 lifts, Fast off the chest and to lock out.

Deadlift

Warm up: 60kgs x 1, 100kgs x 1, 140kg x 1 Add Belt Loose Velocity 160kgs x 1, 170kgs x 1 Straps Up.

1st Attempt 190kgs 3 whites

very easy opener Fast

2nd Attempt : 205kgs 3 Whites

Same as the First, good all the way to lock out.

3rd Attempt : 220kgs 3 Whites

As above, set up good and a nice lift through to the finish.

Comments:

  • Still did not have to worry too much about my weight, left The House at 104.5clap.gif weighed in that day 104doh1.gif so decided to eat bigish not Carbishpuke.gif. Saturday weighed 103.9 wtfbanner.gif after big breakfast. Saturday night 4 steaks, 3 eggs, Bread, Coke and Chocolate, weighed in 103.4
  • Was on Antibiotics up to Monday health was good.
  • Squats: Warm ups were ok, I started early 1 hour out and still cut it fine, 2 warm ups left with 5 lifters to go. Decide to drop opener from 240kgs to 230kgs. Weights felt tougher than usual, so a good call. Went out weight felt good, dropped it came up, slight struggle in the middle but i knew it was going to be a tough day. 3 whites happy I hit depth for my opener. For the second took it to 245kgs, same as the first, set up just a bit off, feet not as wide. Went down to where I thought the beeper was came back up 3 Reds depth. The third, took 245 again and decided to sink it, set up better dropped good, thought I have got this one, it was not easy as I have done but not a grind, but still work.
  • Bench: Because of the weight loss, and the work on the Squats, I dropped my opener from 130 to 120, it was survival mode from here. Opener was good and fast no issues, but under the belt is good, one foot not flat in heels 1 Red, 2 White 1 Red. Increased by 5kgs for 2nd, dropped good hit the sweet spot, came off the chest just as fast. 2 White s 1 red for the Head. Third went to 132.5 came off the chest just as quick, good lock out, made sure I glued the head feet into position. 3 Whites
  • Deads: Day was just about over for me, I just wanted to get a total. Was warming up and it was tough 140 was hard, so dropped opener from 210 to 190, figured get a couple in. Big Cluster f*@k I changed my opening DL asked three times as the computer screen still said the attempt I did not want. Yes Yes Yes was what I got. I walk out to the 190 which was 180, the table goes its Warren that is not his lift WTF, go back out after they reloaded, they forgot the lot draw order, come back in this is where the safety valve was quiet low, go back out 3rd time lucky.
  • Opener 190 just popped up 3 whites. Then went to 205 on the second, that was the same as the first 3 Whites. Third attempt jumped another 15 to 220kgs, should have looked at this number:doh1: Same as the first two just a bit slower in transition 3 whites.. Got a slight cramp in my pec, had some salt tablets had this last year at the Nats but a lot worse.

  • Was a pleasure lifting with all the NZPF lifters and friends I have built up and met over the last 7 Nationals. But after Sunday's effort, this will be my last Nationals. I cannot do both and do justice to either. I am a very competitive person, 17 weeks of training, the best preparation after 5 Nationals to figure it out, and I get a result like this. For my lifting to go well, I need to be selfish which I have talked to PT, Tonka KP and the wife at various times, after I have struggled after helping the Team.
  • I cannot be selfish, it's not a part of make up, my lifting would go well, but it would not sit right, it would be a Very Dark Place. Same deal that I do not do the CD Champs or BBro, I cannot lift and run comps at the same, I do the WBOP Champs and lifting goes really well. I feel that the Lifters need my time, as The lifters of The House are the Future, which I put a head of my aspiration's.
  • I know I need to do the National's, to go to the Commonwealths or World's, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I have discussed this and thought about it, everything in my life is calculated, pro's and con's. This is not a rash decision, just the right decision. T may have let it out of the bag, as he was suppose to wait, till I said something, same as KP with his post. These sort of friends are very hard to come by, and I am very privileged to able to call them my friends.
  • I will still be lifting, as there things that I want to achieve, just may take a different route, plus these young fella's, have to earn their bragging rights and it will not come easy, I will make sure of that..
  • Want to thank everyone for a awesome weekend, the flat mates for another lot of stories, Team Powerhouse for making me so Proud, CDPA The Green Machine, letting everyone know we are coming. OAWLA, Refs, Spotter Loaders and support crews, plus the lifters that make these comps so enjoyable.
  • on a side not I broke 3 National Records would have had four if I had checked did not know till some one mentioned it

Notes:

  • Fourth Day in loose equipment, retired my 46 last week,my loose suit that I use up to 150 was tighter, that was the first clue. so the not as lose 44now. 210 was good, went to 230 that was just on parallel. I was going to go up, but left it at a good clean set. Did a drop at 220 both felt fine.
  • Bench was better, used FatBoys F6. Did a three sets at the 1/2 board all felt good, the best it has been for a while.
  • Good Squat, and Better Bench.
