New To the Country

Good afternoon fellas.

Just moved over to NZ and looking to get big again.

I must say, after the last 6 years of not training, i have a long way to go.

Had two kids and started two businesses in that time which ate up most of my time.

Currently weigh in at 77kgs with a height of 1.74m. Cardio levels are excellent and have kept my base fitness ok.

Looking to get to about 85kgs with a 10% body fat.

I am based in Auckland in the South East and am literally starting from scratch.

Will need to learn more about routines and supplement programmes as well as manage my nutrition properly. But really excited to do so.

First thing i need to do is find a proper gym....no fancy shmancy poser gym. Just a good old fashioned gym with great guys working out and helping each other.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Haha! What gym does Powerlifting Jesus train at, @ThreeWhiteLights? You reckon he'll take disciples?

Welcome, bro. We're actually working on some basic articles like this at the moment, but sing out if you have any questions in the meantime.

I can confirm that powerlifting jesus appears at body business most Wednesday nights.

I live out South/East

IMO body business is best for powerlifting type training, this is where I go.

Premier fitness (formerly known as muscle and fitness) is pretty good for body building and general muscle building, just got new equipment and stuff.

Ok, i just came back from Revitalise Gym.

Its exactly what i am after. I particularly like the boxing area as a nice little bonus.

So, i will be taking out a non fixed term package.

Will start on Monday morning. Also, to make sure i remain motivated and not do anything stupid i will be using a personal trainer for the first two months.

I have this annoying habit of losing interest in things pretty quick, so using a PT will make sure that i actually get off my arse and go to the gym. At least for a while till i start noticing progress. Once that happens, then the progress will be my motivating factor.

I have had a long chat with my trainer and mentioned what my diet consists of (we use myfoodbag to supply our food for evenings and so on) and also told him my viewpoint on supplementation and so on. I think we are on the same page with each other.

For the first two weeks, i will be doing 4 x 30 minute sessions (Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri), then after two weeks, we will kick it up a gear into 4 x 60 minutes.

Measurements of body as well as BF% will be done and constantly monitored.

I will post on this thread (or another) regarding my progress.

Special shout out to WOOKIE for the tip on the gym.

There is a boxing area it my gym too... For some reason Its moved position from the side of the gym to in front of the cardio area, which is at the front when you walk in. I never used it, but now when i enter i like to  stand in front of the tredmillers and kick the shit out of the heavy bag a few times (with my shoes on cos im a badass) just for attention.

I really need to find a way to lose weight quickly.

my girlfriends dad had a motorbike crash in the early 80s and lost a few kgs instantly when his leg came off.

but srs, dont focus on doing it quickly or you will burn out and get fat again

1kg a week is the most you should lose

I wear a fitness computer and it reckons i burned 1,719 calories yesterday.

I don't know if I would trust any fitness computer

Your target calories seem high for your bodyweight. Whats the goal lose weight or gain muscle.

Bit of both.

I want to start out losing fat and dropping weight. Then once thats there, i can start building muscle....

But not like crazy. Just good toned and defined kinda thing.

Think Frank Medrano type stuff.
