In.

I'm fizzing at the butthole for this no homo.

Just under eight weeks away.

I believe there will be a livestream for sure.

The organisers are quite friendly with Dan and Sparkle Green so I would assume they would ask them about how they organised their stream for BOBs 2 as it was legit through Youtube. Even had lifters names, attempts etc superimposed on the screen so you knew what was going on. Plus no lag at all.

yeah the graphics on the screen was a big deal, made it actually worth watching because sometimes cant hear clearly and bit hard to do plate maths.

id pay to watch a stream of this if i wasnt going

Yeah bro - I am registered ... not sure if I will be ready in time though.

I may just park it and focus on doing the GPC New Zealand Push Pull later on.

Training is going good though but the should hasn't been 100% since the Arnolds - its probably the only thing that will prevent me from making it to PR.

  • 1 month later...

So this has come around pretty dam quick !

Runs this Friday to Sunday.

Lifting starts at 10am each day, about 12pm NZ time if my maths etc is right lol.

Ladies are on Friday, U80-U110 Men on Saturday and U125s & SHW on Sunday.

Each weight class gets it's own flight so will be easy as to see who is lifting against who rather than having crossovers between flights.

So say Saturday will go U80 Squats, U95 Squats, U110 Squats then back to U80 for Bench and so on.

I believe just me and Elmo are left competing in the Guys from NZ, there are a couple of Ladies still going too I believe, I think Ruth Jackson and one other.

Live streams for each day have been organised. I can't get the links to paste in on my phone but will try post them up later on if someone else doesn't first.

EXCITED!

after the random weather here last couple weeks im glad we dont have any hot days coming up, a 35 degree day in there would definitely affect lifters.

follow lots of the lifters on instagram and the kind of numbers that will be lifted over all of the weight classes are epic, but i reckon 110s especially is going to be awesome, like a pool of death in rugby world cup lol

Lolol I'm hoping to hold my own in there but there is definitely a couple of freaks who are basically guaranteed 1st and 2nd barring injuries of course.

I think the 95s will be the most competitive class depth wise with quite a few lifters all juggling numbers for the top spots.

CWS vs Odell in the 125+class is going to be sick to watch. I would put money on it that we will likely see an 1100kg total from one if not both of them.

I'm going to enjoy watching them while I stuff my face and don't have to worry about what I weigh lol.

CWS now that is an enormous Human Being!  Make sure you get photos with all of them for a size comparison.

I have my money on Odell though, he has been coming into comp for the first time without any injuries for the first time in ages and is very mentally tough so will pull whatever he needs to to win.

Awesome weekend

Some highlights:

Friday

Chleo Van Wyk getting the biggest ever australian womens total. weighed in at 87.6 (lean) and went 220/132.5/232.5. she attempted 247.5 for 600 total and it may as well have been a speed rep, but lost grip, was gutted. she is straight up stronger than me lol

was cool to see some girls like 130kg+ bodyweight being strong as, i mean you could just be lazy and weak when you are heavy or whatever but they use it to their advantage and it pays off with heaps of squats over 200

Missed saturday, was busy, gutted to miss beastbuilder and elmo but saw some extreme numbers and videos

most intense was Jackson Murrie, 22 yo, weighed in 93.9kg, went 342.5/177.5/310 for 830 u95 thats fucked, will let the guys that competed write about their results on here

Sunday:

Battle between Chad Wesley Smith and Odell Manuel, they are both giant humans.

CWS weighed in at 167.6 and went 440/245/370 = 1055 (lost balance on a surprisingly not that hard looking 450 squat)

Odell weighed in at 150.9 and went 320/245/400 (dropped 410 twice so close!)

had a mean as time, got photos with some heroes, gave beastbuilder and few others a ride to the city, had some yarns, my POS corolla had never been put under so much strain lol bottoming out on every bump

Chad should have won that, the squat miss threw him off. Jumped from 245 to 260 and missed twice on bench, and tweaked his hammy on his 370 dead. Still, excellent performance by Odell.

agree. that squat and bench were unlucky and would have given a different result.  the squat was straight up bad luck, and he looked pretty suprised the 260 bench didnt go up, looked like he expected it would be sweet

I went 7/9 and got a 617.5kg total - pretty happy with that. Weighed in at 76.6 (heavy for me lol)  so I was second lightest there.

Squat: 210 good 220 good 230 fail

Bench: 140 good 147.5 good 152.5 fail

Deadlift: 220 good 240 good 250 good

Will post up some vids when I get a chance

Patrick Morrison won the 80kg class with a 800kg total! Dude is a beast. Quite a few beasts there though

Elmo did really well, some impressive lifting and kept up with majority of the pack except for of course Patrick who beat 2nd place by like 150kg or so. Fucking impressive little guy !

Well done on the PBs Elmo, was mint to watch bro.

I had a much less successful day, went 6/9, reds for depth on third squat, and missed third bench and pull, my first red lights and missed comp lifts all year. Ended up with 285/192.5/312.5. All below my current PBs, was still theoretically comp PBs so I guess that's a positive. Won't clog this thread with my rant bs but have done a write up in my journal if anyone interested.

Was a very well run comp, best I have ever been to. Ran really well time wise even without having a clock on for the lifters etc. Spotting and loading was top notch. Reffing was spot on basically, very few questionable calls and when you were given red they let you know exactly why. Warm up area was legit as f*ck, heaps of room and equipment. Microwaves etc available to be used all day. Everything was basically focused on allowing the lifters to perform to their best. Was a pleasure to be involved and if that is the way power lifting is heading I think we're all in for a treat !
