This is just a general topic for anyone to contribute health/organ related health tips/information, sometimes gets overlooked.

I have been doing a bit of reading on steps that can be taken to improve heart health (maybe 1/3 life crisis as i turned 25 a couple weeks ago)

So apart from the obvious not smoking, do cardio and eat a healthy diet, is there anything else that you guys regularly do/supplement with to improve heart health? fish oil? cholesterol lowering foods?

I have a family history of heart problems mainly smoking and diet related i would say but be good to take some easy ish steps as insurance for when im older i reckon.

LOL.

(I'm not a Dr)

I have the same problem with my family history (damn genetics).

Only thing I do more than you've already said is get my bloods done every six months to keep an eye on early indicators for heart problems (also of other things as well like diabetes).

I personal don't bother with cholesterol lowering foods. In fact I eat about 4 whole eggs a day and have never had a problem with my cholesterol.

They say that belly fat is a big indicator of risk.

Have you blood pressure regularly checked bro, high blood pressure puts additional stress on the heart which will reduce its life span. It's simply a pump.

I get ECG done every now and then also doctor thinks I have an irregular heart beat also a genetic thing though. Cholesterol as mentioned above but that's a fasted test so a bit annoying.

I would also try avoid stimulants like caffeine etc
