Great dead for bodyweight bro! I'm not sure if many people in NZ can pull more than that at u83kg

Cheers bro. My goal is to one day pull 300.  Not unrealistic i think if i follow a good program.

agree, 3.11x bw is really good i reckon

Thanks mate.

Yea dam good pull bro !

If you hit that in comp in either the U82.5 or U90 class you would be tied for biggest pull in either class for GPC NZ.

Solid work going on, and it's paying off in a big way !

I still say eat more and grow haha

Cheers man . Yeah haha i really struggle to gain weight but its just simply not committing to eating correctly that holds me back id say.

Finished last night's training with bench press at 120kg x 4 sets of 8. Really comfy and all paused considering I ate like a dick yesterday And had next to no fluids until the late afternoon. Today was shoulders.

Seated shoulder press

60kg x 10

80kg x 5

90kg x 2

100kg x 3 x 5 .

Seated behind neck press 60kg x sets of 10 with 30 seconds rest until I could only hit 6. Maybee 5 sets.

Seated db press 20kg x 2 sets of 30

Seated lateral raises . 10kg x lots of sets of 15 and rear delt machine. Cable preacher curls until pumped

Pretty cruise train today . Deads and squats.

Deadlifts 215kg x 4 sets of 5. Was going to do a couple sets beltless but preserve the back.

Squats 170kg x 2 sets of 8.

Also received my box of protein bars from the overhead press challenge today. Thanks Gym nation and Horleys they taste awesome. Way better than the Quest bars.

Quick catch up on your journal, you are putting up some decent numbers bro!

That is one hell of a decent Deadlift. Leeroid better watch out for you in the 82.5s haha

Haha I don't think he has to much to worry about with a squat like that.

Just some quiet bench today. Worked up to sets of 3 at 140kg then a 145kg single. My comp presses will be 135. 140. 145 so hopefully I won't f*ck up and re rack it early or lift a foot and they'll all count.

i worried about this shit too but all you need to do is take your time and listen. cant really f*ck up the calls.

i can't talk on moving feet i do it without realising

Go in with an open mind and try not to get nervous bro.

Take your time like Maccaz said and you'll be golden, it is different to a gym lift definitely but as long as you have a level head on your shoulders and don't rush you'll be fine !

Biggest thing that gets novices is calls or being too gung-ho on their attempts. Just think about everything you do and you'll nail it.

Worked up to at or around openers today. Squatted up to 210kg, benched up to 140kg and deadlifted up to 240kg. I'd ideally like to total 600 kg at least for my first meet so however I go about it I don't know but that's a good starting point I figure. Will be under 83kg . May open each lift with less and use those numbers as my second lifts then adjust each accordingly on how I feel . Looking forward to meeting a few people as nobody in my gym does powerlifting at all.

So what is your plan bro? Post here happy to give opinions. The key to getting your goal total of 600kg is getting 9/9 lifts. i don't think any body is going to argue with that. There are diff opinions on other things though. Only thing that should be set in stone is your openers after you get those you go from there. I find it really good to have someone film. For example at nats my 300 squat felt so heavy so I timed out my 3rd attempt. But afterwards I watched the video my partner had filmed and was actually smooth as. Had I of seen this after my 2nd attempt I woulda had a 3rd. I watched my videos after my benches and deadlifts too. I find this helps and installs confidence in me seeing me lift something faster than I thought I did.

My planned openers will be 200, 135, 230. Those are numbers I should be able to hit no trouble any day no matter how tired. From there squat will hopefully be 210, 220. Bench will then be 140, 145 but if feeling good after 140 I may try 150. Deads 240-250 then if I'm strong last will either be 250 or 260 . The last lifts 220, 150 and 260 are my max training p.r . You think that sounds like the way to go? I did film all today's lifts on IG and felt each was about a second lift . Not a max effort but close.

Yeah bro sounds all good. Just make sure you can def get your openers. Don't even want to be thinking about the weight, the weight should be a gimmie so u can think bout calls etc. especially being ur first comp. don't be scared to drop opener a little lower and keep 2nd same so it's a bigger jump. Some people scared big jumps. No such thing as a wasted opener. Never seen anyone win a comp on their opener. but yeah good plan just don't fail ur openers that is key to succeeding. Success breeds success. Most people at novice comp who fail their opener fail their 2nds then eventually bomb cause they panic. U can always go up in wrigjt but you can't go down. Anyway just something's to think about. Most importantly tho just have fun!! :)

Thanks bro I might even drop a tad more just to be safe for my opener. Thanks for the advice.

Taken a big fucken kick in the teeth toward going in the comp. Last night I woke up at 2am vomiting and having massive smelly burps. Has continued all day . Can't hold any food or water down and just weighed 81.40kg. Weird thing is in my vomit there have been these black oval disc rubbery things. 4 in total. I pulled one out and tried to break it and it was almost just like rubber. Dr thinks I have gastroenteritis which can last 2-10 days. Pretty much no chance of competing unless I'm fine tomorrow. Feeling gutted

+1 with Maccaz - get the electrolytes.  Ideally not just Gatorade, get to the chemist for some Gastrolyte.

Get that in, calm the gut down, and build energy on the day with creamed rice, glucose or dextrose/maltodextrose...

No good mate! Shit happens there will be another comp. if it was me would I do it... If I felt good ok the day yeah if I didn't feel 100% I wouldn't do it. No point doing if your not 100% it's a competition, idea is to kill it.

No respect will be lost if don't do. Decide tmw night or on day. Get well bro!
