Competing - for yourself, or to win?

Don't care it's just a label... Doesn't really change what it is or is not.

i wonder if anyone will ever get to the bottom of this age old question whether bodybuilding is a sport or not, if not, what is it haha.. feel like pseudo should go interview kai greene or gandalf or something and get a philosophical answer for us.

Question for those who compete to #bringtheirbestpackagetodate #bringthebestversionofthem and compete for themselves, why join a bodybuilding federation to be judged against better competitors? Social media provides the platform to share our progress and our "packages" (god I hate that term) with our friends and family/whoever we want. Why then jump on a stage to be judged against others particularly if you're natty? If winning isn't important then why do it?

im not talking about the bucket list crowd or the people doing it purely for the experience of it all, but the people who go back for more and claim to be doing it for themselves. Ironically I think people who legitimately compete for themselves usually are competitive on stage and usually the well adjusted competitors fall into this category.

As for whether bb is a sport or not, it's a pointless argument really, it's moot and is inconsequential. The general public will always view bodybuilders as a little bit odd.
