NZ made proteins vs USA made proteins

Hi guys,

Thanks for your previous recommendations on nutrition stores, I managed to purchase some Optimum, Musclepharm, Arnold Series etc proteins at awesome prices :)

Now a new question arises *help* I notice NZ made proteins, such as Balance, are often more expensive than USA imports on per serving basis for similar combination (e.g. WPC + WPI). I thought local ones would be cheaper due to lower labour cost here, great dairy industry, and no international shipping. The fact they are more expensive and still have market, I guess they are great. Having previously heard multiple people saying NZ made proteins are better - is it worthwhile to pay a bit more and get NZ made?

PS: I bought a tub of Balance, did not notice any difference to imports, though it mixed better. However, if NZ made protines are indeed better (e.g. more organic), I will stick with NZ ones. *drinks*

i find the balance and horleys stuff shows me all the indicators of good quality protein (mix easy, no sticky residue, mostly simple ingredient label).

the problem is the nz stuff can be so much more expensive, i tend to get it only when on special otherwise i find alternatives. if i could afford it, id always get the NZ stuff because it's easy to have a lot of something good quality without any bloating or other side effects. lately i found myofusion elite series to be decent where as the 2 series before that were a bit sticky and had lab reviews stating less protein than shown on the label. something about amino spiking which a lot of american brands were pulled up on (chucking in cheaper stuff like glycine/taurine and using it to add on to the protein macros label when it shouldn't)

it really should be cheaper here.. it's probably cheaper overseas than it is here haha! guess they can keep selling it here like that because NZers are used to getting ripped off on everything anyway.

With NZ protein I know theres probably no rubbish in it, with american buisness ethics can never be too sure. Tbh every protein is a rip off, but its only because retards actually believe that a particular protein will actually help them get gains beyond a nutritional context, so it's their fault for buying those 80$ proteins. Cheapest WPC I seen here is Shotgun and Nutratech (40$) Also there was a spammer on here setting up his own company that offered a cheaper price.

With that being said, ON Mocca Capituino tastes just like starbucks coffee tastes soooo good. Shotgun on the other hand tastes ok. Generic chocolate.

Unfortunately, our great dairy industry is widely recognised, and other countries pay high prices for our great dairy products. And that means... so does the NZ consumer.

I would certainly put more faith in a NZ product, than an American brand that was actually made in Mexico. But without being an expert, quality is hard to determine. For me, the biggest difference is that Americans tend to make everything sickly sweet, whereas the NZ palate is a bit more restrained.

Spot on, I am downing some MusclePharm Combat Powder cookie'n cream flavour right now, it is way too sweet for me.
