Death from a Power Cut

When I first heard the story, I wondered all these questions... Why didn't they call an ambulance? Why didn't they run an extension cord next door? They had two hours before she died, so why spend the time around her bad, singing songs? (Incidentally, I can think of plenty worse ways to die than to drift off while being farewelled by loved ones). Anyway, I ended up leaning towards the side of the electricity company.

Then I read Tapu Misa's article in The Herald, and it made me think that, yeah, perhaps there was another side to the story. That's not to say I'm now siding with the family, either. There are still so many unanswered questions, but I guess this is a longwinded way of saying, "Meh - now I just don't know..." :P

Helen Clark is just trying to secure votes by being there for the people. I dont blame Mercury Energy or the contractor. Pay your bills! Its a tragic situation. The family didn't look like they were starving

I see on the news tonight Helen Clarke was at the funeral today in South Auckland was she at the funeral when Burton slayed the the guy in Wellington?? I think this is her way of gaining votes from the public.Im not racist at all but where does it end?? Its sad that someone died but we all have to pay bills and have commitments i think people are blowing this right out of proportion.

I think it's too late to share the blame. the media has already pinged the big corporate as the ones to blame, and it's gone international. One thing the media needs to take responsibility for is the pointing finger before the coroners report is out. it's interesting to read the point above about the traditional healing. I didn't know that. but my question still remains is that why didn't anything happen for two hours? and no they didn't look like they coulnd't afford to eat. personally i would have lowered my food budget to ensure I could afford power and lighting, for my sick mum

im no fan of helen or any of those dickheads, but maybe she was there because in those two instances u just used, they were both from govt department f*ck ups so she probably should have gone really dnt u think? and if she hadnt gone the ppl who are saying she just after votes would be saying y aint she there.. catch 22 i think.

bottom line if u dnt pay yr power bill u get no power, its simple really

those ppl should of payd their power bill, they looked like they could afford a shit load of food.

priortitys... if u want to stuff yr face or go casino and not pay yr power bill den light yr candles baby!

its all just political correctness gone mad..Ms clark is only there because it serves her interest in terms of her target voters.

This is just this months example of the media taking something and giving all the parties there 15 mins in the sun...prior to this it was Chubb and liam ashley...wonder whats next??ohh wait...we'll all forget all the bad stuff if NZ wins that funny cup shapped thing that the yacht boys are trying to get back.

Well, HC did say she was there because she was invited, but I'd love to know whether this was an invitation to her personally, or an "open" invitation...

Of course, a cynic might point out the funeral was held in an electorate that was once a Labour stronghold, but currently belongs to Helen's favourite MP, the independent Taito Philip Field.
