Kidney health and protein intake???

Hi, new here.  Am trying to understand renal function test results in relation to someone who is starting to do weight training exercises.

I am a 44 year-old male, 165cm 60kg.  Reasonably low body fat but am trying to put some more muscle on my frame.

I understand creatinine results can be a bit misleading for someone doing weight training and on a high protein diet.  But what about eGFR results as well?

Three months ago I had a renal blood test..

Creatinine - 125 umol/L,  eGFR 60 mL/min

Then another test just a few weeks ago..

Creatinine - 113 umol/L,  eGFR 68 mL/min

Things have improved and gone in the right direction.  Potassium and sodium are bang on in range.

How do others here see those results?  Would I still be safe to consume around 130 grams of protein a day or do I have slightly impaired kidney function according to those numbers?

Three months ago I had a real blood test..

To my mind your questions creates more questions for me.  As a female roughly your height and weight I consume anywhere from 130-145g of protein a day.  So, I can't see it causing you any problems.

But, my questions is were you referred by a Dr for these tests?  What did the Dr say about the results?  Did you ask the Dr about the protein?

Chronic Kidney disease is defined as an eGFR <60 mL/min (< = lower than) that is present for longer than 3 months.... The trend is upwards don't worry about it...

Drink plenty of water...

Thanks.  Kind of what I had thought too.  I have started drinking more water.
