Notes on Thyroid function..

I've taken this from another board, he's a foreign bio-chemistry student so apologies for the format, but I found some bits interesting, thought I'd share..

Thyroid notes:

For a healthy functioning thyroid 500 to 1000 mg tyrosine with one fourth teaspoon sea salt a day to half a teaspoon three time day. Tyrosine and iodine in sea salt is needed to create thyroid hormone then u add selenium methione 800 mcg a day for t4 t3 conversion to finish the job or brazil nuts 50 mcg per nut. (or 5 a day)..

Sea salt is also needed for adrenal function as if the adrenals are not fed the thyroid cannot work. And avoid common salt. Table salt bad. Sea salt good.

If your thyroid is proven by test not up to par. Then you are somehow starving it.

Every body requires water to function.right? Every cell needs sodium potassium water to function. Without it you are a dehydrated, weak, fatigued, mess which will die.

Your thyroid is requiring certain things to function properly. And if you are European or Western most likely regardless if you workout and eat ok you are like the rest of the advanced civilizations. Severely starved of micronutrients look at all westerners everyone has a thyroid problem. And no doesn't mean you have to be fat to have a bad thyroid everyone thinks “i'm lean my thyroid is fine”. Then explain all the obese women on t3 t4 for years and still obese. Thyroid does not control metabolism to the degree we like to think it does. Studies shown metabolism varies 3 to 4 percent in randomized studies.

So if you eat like typical person chicken salad whatever. Likely your thyroid is starved. Give it what it requires to work like your muscles require potassium calcium to contract or magnesium to relax. your body needs so much and a typical western diet lacks greatly thyroid nutrients we all know this. We know this causes everyones uncle, dad, and brother to have a thyroid problem.

I suggest you feed your body what it needs and work on the missing nutrients in your diet. And no a multivitamin doesn't count. I call multi vitamins calcium pills. As studies shown the highest mineral like calcium competes with other minerals for use and will basically over-ride their absorption.  And all multivitamins always have 600 or so calcium so bye bye chromium and magnesium and everything else. Worthy in it.

You need a optimal.thyroid always. As higher thyroid output has some people think.they’ll gain weight easier with slow thyroid. However a slow thyroid lowers your protein synthesis and severe muscle loss is seen. Think of a typical women with low thyroid output. She has no buttocks, muscles, and huge fat deposits on gut, and muscle shrinkage all over, just fat deposit areas grow and muscles shrink. Optimal thyroid to higher will always be better for muscle gain. U only see the fat people on high t3 because they don't eat enough to support a healthy function thyroid...
