Too big for my bed?

For years I had a pretty standard Queen size bed that did the trick but was really too small for me and the missus and I was having back issues every now and again

So I decided to splurge and went down to Farmers when they had a half price sale on their Sleepyheads in March last year.

I wanted something that was a lot bigger, was going to give me better nights sleep and was gonna last 10 years or so.

I hover between 115kg - 125kg and my wife is usually around 50kg so I was hesitant to buy anything with a pillowtop.  But I was assured it would be fine, the coils they use will take a beating then bounce back.

Ended up buying a Sleepyhead Santuary medium firmness in Super King for about $4000 which I thought was a bargain as they are usually $8000.

It was amazing for the first few months then it became evident an indent was forming on my side.  So we rotated the matress around and it was fine for another few months until the other side did it too.  Got used to rotating it every few months but less than 18 months later the pillow top doesnt seem to want to spring back up and there is hollow all over the top.  I sometimes sleep in the spare room bed and have a better nights sleep which is ridiculous.  I would have expected the matress to keep its shape for longer.

The bed has a 10 year warranty.  I have googled it and Sleepyhead has a 35mm hollow expectancy.  I havent measured mine yet but surely the bed is not up to the job.  I mean the saleswoman saw how big I was when I bought it (was 123kg at the time) and she assured me it would be sweet but it isn't.

I will be taking it up with Farmers first and see where it leads.

Has anyone else had any dramas with beds to suit their size?

Wow, that's a bit rubbish, Soundsgood. I think you'd definitely got cause for complaint there.

Maybe go with a latex mattress next time? They're more solid, so might be a bit more resistant to slumbering giants. :D

I got one made a while back - solid macrocarpa base, organic latex mattress - and it was roughly the same price as yours.

Crazyfacials - I have a Peace Pillow that sounds like what you're talking about, although I think I got the softest, thinnest one (which is actually not that soft or thin). I love it. They're expensive, but you only need to buy them once.
