Seems like NZ's political scene has suddenly gone from not much exciting happening, to everything happening.

  • Hone Harawira and Kim Dotcom have had a civil union for their two parties, producing the "Mana Internet" party. They lost one old battleaxe (Sue Bradford) and gained another (Laila Harre).
  • John Banks has been found guilty of knowingly filing a fase electoral return - which also involved Kim Dotcom.
  • John Key flipped from backing Banks as "an honest man" to snubbing his vote in Parliament.
  • Banks then resigned, leaving questions over the future of the Act Party which he was propping up.
  • And if Act doesn't get back into Parliament, where does that leave National?

Phew... What do we reckon? Have I missed anything?!

:D

Banks didn't do anything that everyone else doesn't do. He just had the bad fortune to get it from Dotcom who paid him in order to get special treatment once he ended up in jail in Bank's Epsom electorate. When Dotcom couldn't get a special bed for his bad back and the many luxuries he enjoyed as a free man, he got sour and decided to get revenge on Banks.

Banks arguably should be applauded for NOT being willing to give favours for donations. KDC kicked up a fuss when told no.

Honestly, the Banks thing should have much influence on ACT. He filed the return after a failed campaign to become mayor of Auckland. ACT have a new leader, new Epsom candidate (who is ahead of the National candidate based on a poll of 300 taken 2 weeks ago).

The Conservatives need a deal, they're polling the same as ACT, but don't have a seat. Key won't give them a deal.

Kim Dot Com is fighting tooth and nail to not be extradited. He has nothing in his defence, hence offering $5 million if someone can help him get off the charges. He's toast.

As far as the Kim.Com thing, or Anyhting Involving NZ foreign politics for that matter, I feel we need to embrace our uniqueness as a country and shout out a big f*ck off to America and it's significant others. While I gladly encourage foreign cooperation and economic trade etc, I think it's time a first world nation stops sucking off to america.

I keep thinking about how much more oppulent we can be with a strong government that has the guts to f*ck off other international buisnsses. The problems happen when we have seedy politicians and buisnesses wanting nothing more than a bit more revenue than the previous financial year. e.g selling assets to china, F&P's foreign factories, letting foreign buisnesses buy large assets and shares in local buisnesses etc.

As far as kim is concerned, he's a valuable buisnessman and asset (ok not that valuable), and we really have no reason to send him to america. f*ck, I'll be perfectly ok with turning NZ into the 21'st century's new 'swiss bank' letting lucrative buisnesses and white collar criminals put all their assets here for a very large fee, as long as they dont f*ck with our citizens.

Another issue that I see is Immigration. See, The Issue with overpopulation is largly a myth, and can be compared to the Idea of NOOB GAINS. You gain 20 kg first year, 10, 5, 2, 1, 0.5 and so on. Same way, the world will not keep deviding. Also, OP is happening in some areas (africa, asia, middle east) while decreasing in europe etc.

So, this relates to my Idea of not giving a f*ck about america. We as a nation cannot, and SHOULD NOT rise up to meet the demands of an evergrowing population. Like ww2 germany, we need to ensure that our citizens get the best of everyhthing, and can have the opportunity to live in oppulence and scientific development, so essentially we need to have 'elite kiwis' - a generation of intellectuals, economists, soldiers, etc, as well as giving the best opportunities to our children and future generations. And this means saying NO! to usless imigrants (im not opposed to immigration entirley).

What do I mean by this? well, if you go to a council - owned gym like I do, you see these weird, WEIRD middle / old aged asians with not a clue as to what they are doing - walking around naked in the pools, pissing, talking loudly in foreign languages etc. Well, theres atleast a few thousand more outside of the gyms too. These types of people cannot come here. Why, because they do not contribute to the economy, they only detract from it. HOWEVER, Asians of younger generations, are capable of assimilating with nz society, and because of their intellect, are valuable assets to our economy.

Economic success can be measured simply by the sum of it's expenses minus its revenue, in other words, the greater the revenue and lesser the expenses the better.

We as a nation, in order to ensure elitisim (not a bad thing), Oppulence, and a secure a bright future for the comming generations, must foucs on this methodogoly, on gradually lessening the gap between money spent, and money earned.

lol Gyzzbrah.

I dont think it is the asians which are the problem in NZ mate. If you had a look at the stats on crime and unemployment its not the Asians who are the problem...

Any way. Been in Sydney for a while now (mainly in north sydney which is a reasonably good area) and it seems to have a higher quality of people than Auckland. No one  eye balls you when you are walking down the street. People queue up for the bus, people give way when walking and say sorry if they walk into or close to you. People dont stand around drinking and looking for fights.

I think New Zealand (Auckland was worse than Christchurch imo) needs to get its shit together.

You're saying he was just unlucky that he got caught? Whether other politicians also do this is irrelevant. Politicians on all sides need to uphold the electoral rules. If they don't, they deserve whatever penalty they get.

Dotcom who paid him in order to get special treatment once he ended up in jail in Bank's Epsom electorate. When Dotcom couldn't get a special bed for his bad back and the many luxuries he enjoyed as a free man, he got sour and decided to get revenge on Banks.

My memory is a bit hazy on the details (I should be a politician!) but didn't Dotcom fly Banks out to his mansion in a helicopter? I don't think he was in jail at the time.

What do you think about Jacinda Ardern as labour leader?

I don't know much about her, but she's got a reputation for being pretty capable, doesn't she? On the one hand, I'd love to say yes, because I think she's exactly what Labour needs - a fresh face, with (hopefully) new ideas, and energy to make change happen. That seems to be missing at the moment.

But on the other hand, being pretty new to it all, I think she might get chewed up by the opposition.

Do you reckon she's likely to replace Cunliffe before the election? I hope not - that job's a hospital pass for anyone to pick up right now.

I also think the threshold should come down from 5% to 1%.

Why do you say that?

I've been at multiple debates that she's done.

She's a pretty nice person, and I don't think that polarising. Which is a plus for her.

But I don't think she has much of an X-Factor at all. The likes of Key would destroy her in a debate. The only person in Labour that could have come close would have been Shane Jones, with Grant Robertson a distant 2nd.
