Ketotifen

Is this a prescription medication or are there over the counter alternatives available.

Try looking for anything with Benadryl in, it works in a similar fashion....

Thanks Daz I will look anyone else point me in the right direction of over the counter medicine that contains Benadryl. There are allergy tablets called Benadryl but these contain diphenhydramine.

I see you can get the eye drops but not tablets unless you have a script.

also look at unisom sleep gels, same or simalur compund. clears the beta-2 receptor if im not mistaken

Have you tried this? Really want to find a proven over the counter drug so Clen can be run for 6 weeks.

I see the sleep gels come in packs of 10 am I right in saying you take them around every 3rd week for that whole week? They contain the same ingredient as Benadryl allergy tablets so I assume they would work also. I was looking for drugs that contain Benadryl at first but that's the brand the active ingredient is Diphenhydramine. I see also in a lot of forums the claims that Benadryl cleans the receptors is false and that only Ketotifen works properly.

yes it works, I would personally start with Unisom when you start clen so you can keep your effective dose much lower and not have to keep on upping the dose each day 40 60 80 100 120 140.....with Unisom you can say at around 60-80mcg depending on your tolerance.

So you would take the Unisom from day 1 when you start to take Clen.

I am sure I read some where that the antihistamine will down grade the receptors so it's best to just take them for week 3 to get the full effect. I am assuming Terrymundo you have tried and tested the way you do it and monitored your temperature during your Clen cycle so I will try it the way you have suggested as there is so much conflicting information out there it becomes very confusing.

Ketotifen slows desensitization of Beta receptors (i.e. Upgrades them) by inhibiting phospholipase A2, which is the enzyme that breaks down methylated phospholipids, and this action in turn keeps the phospholipid membrane stable, and thus keeps the receptors functioning properly. People have speculated diphenhydramine could . 2-3mg ED can up-regulate even severely shut down receptors within a week.

It also means that you don’t need as much clen to get the same benefits. It seems u can take about 30-40% less clen and it be equally effective. it also increases the number of receptor sites on the surface of the cell, allowing more clen to attach and perhaps this is the reason for the increased efficacy. Ketotifen also seems to lessen the sides of clen including the jitters.

If using Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) start at week 3 for one week...Or carry on until cessation of Clen....

Ketotifen also seems to lessen the sides of clen including the jitters.

So does that mean the stimulant effect is inhibited? Isn't the stimulant a good thing - ie, it contributes towards fat loss?

Unisom SleepGel - http://www.medsafe.govt.nz/consumers/cmi/u/unisom.pdf

Says not to take for longer than a week. Is there a danger you become reliant on them to sleep?

Interesting:

Huszar E, Herjavecz I, B?sz?rmenyi-Nagy G, Slapke J, Schreiber J, Debreczeni LA. Effects of ketotifen and clenbuterol on beta-adrenergic receptor functions of lymphocytes and on plasma TXB-2 levels of asthmaticpatients.Z Erkr Atmungsorgane. 1990;175(3):141-6.
Clinical observations indicate that beta-adrenergic drugs may increase bronchial reactivity in asthmatics. To find out possible reasons for this phenomenon the beta-adrenergic receptor function of isolated lymphocytes of asthmatic patients treated with clenbuterol alone or with ketotifen and clenbuterol together were studied. The cAMP levels of lymphocytes stimulated by different doses of isoproterenol were measured by radioimmunoassay and have been compared in the groups of healthies, and asthmatic patients after 3-months running of clenbuterol (Spiropent, Sandoz), as well as in the same asthmatics after one-week running of parallel administration of ketotifen and clenbuterol. There was no difference between the beta-adrenergic receptor function in asthmatic patients treated with clenbuterol alone vs. untreated healthies. Applying ketotifen and clenbuterol together the beta-adrenergic receptor function increased compared to the values obtained after application of clenbuterol alone (intraindividual-control) as well as vs. the group of healthies (control). Data presented support the view that therapeutic doses of selective beta 2-agonists do not lead to damage of the beta-adrenoceptor function. The improvement of receptor function after parallel administration of clenbuterol and ketotifen may be a consequence of the participation of ketotifen in the control of beta-adrenergic receptor system. Thus it seems unlikely that down-regulation of beta-adrenergic receptors is responsible for the beta-agonist induced bronchial hyperreactivity. That's why TXB-2 levels in the plasma of the same asthmatic patients and healthy volunteers were determined by RIA.

Regarding Ketotifen with Clenbuterol? According to this study you should be able to use smaller doses and not have to increase the dosage or cycle off.

^^ I've used ket at 1mg/1ml every 3rd week ( for 7 days ) before and after a week on it you start feeling like you're taking clen for the first time again, it's one hell of a clean-up agent for dem receptors~ not to mention the added bonus of putting you out to sleep like a boss.

Other interests over summer if you get smashed by mozzies/fleas/ants it stops the itchyness better than anything your doctor will prescribe - stupid creams and hayfever type weaker anti-histamines.
