What promotes growth of blood vessels?

Recommended Posts

I never used to have this problema and it is a minor problem but after completing a cycle and growing a bit i find that often when i wake i have a dead arm from sleeping on my shoulder. i naturally sleep on my left side and im noticing that i wake to a dead arm or pins and needles on that side after i wake clears up after il roll onto my back and clench fist for a min or 2. BTW heart is fine i had an ECG and some other checks recently as a precheck for some optional surgery that im considering.

wondering if blood supply is not enough for the much larger muscle and if there is soethign i can do about it? is there a compound that promotes additional blood vessel growth. or perhaps occlusion training?

Its probably just from sleeping on your shoulder/arm cutting off the blood supply. Pretty sure growing blood vessels wont help this one.... But getting things checked out might help - it coud be due to tight muscles etc.

Have you had any injuries from around the time it started happening?

Blood vessels or nerves?

Could be more a case of nerves being compressed by new muscle bulk & your bodyweight when you sleep on a particular muscle group? I've never looked up the cause of "pins n needles"...google time!

ive heard of carpal tunnel like symptoms while on cycle from a couple of people, thought gh was supposed to do something like that but both of these were test only

I used to get it pretty bad, had x-rays showing degeneration of C-3/6 and nerve compression.. Sports physio advised some stretching and mobility exercises in neck and scapula.. Plus postural changes and an orthopedic pillow...

You're compressing nerves in your neck which radiate down your arm, its nothing to do with blood vessels.. You need to alter your head and shoulder posture, n loosen up a bit...

I have the same problem wake up in the middle of the night with a dead arm go to move it and my elbow twitches and the next few days it hurts to lift in that joint.

i figured my arm was dead due to lack of blood from sleeping on it. When Moving my arm/elbow it caused the tendons to strain as they have little blood supply

think you should change the way you sleep bro

The pins and needles will be from a lack of blood supply to the sensory nerve. It will be a positional cause if u get it when u sleep and it eases with movement. Try changing your sleeping positon and it should fix it.

Thaks for all of your replies guys - i think Daz hit it on the head i have been going to the Osteopath over the last 6-7 weeks sorting out a back issue from a botched deadlift. turns out that i had an old compression of the spine resulting from flying headfirst into a tree while speeding downhill on a mountain bike i ahd forgotten all about it  but apparelty it contributedd to the deadlift injury and my whole body was contorted

ive since been given the all clear for back day and deadlifs and squats  and i havent experienced the dead arms on waking for a few  weeks now

more stretching after leg day to make sure quads and hip flexors dont pull pelvis the wrong way while its all bedding in and a good session on the foam roller for lats and some of the side abdominal muscles keeps me well at the moment

once again - apreciate the responses
