Lol azide you meanie. I remember feeling insecure and tiny and weak when I first started going to the gym and was benching 40kgs. I don't remember making a status about getting bullied in the gym by guys laughing at a joke and pulling some faces at me though

i wouldnt go to the gym if i was doing 40kg bench. just buy weights and do at home as it would be cheaper than gym membership anyway. when i started i got 80kg of weights and bench for $50 and could do it for reps. did pull ups in tree with bar tied on it and also did curls and running. got aesthetic as f*ck in no time

shouldnt matter if he lifting 40 or 400, fact that he is at gym lifting is enough that i stand and applaud

its not the the amount of weight you lift that will make the gains but more the amount of effort you have to use to lift said weight

Not everyone that steps into a gym and lifts some weights is going to get a fucking stating ovation, were talking about one of the most judgmental places your going to go..... It might come as a shock, but your going to get judged. If you havnt got a thick skin then your just going to get eaten alive, that goes for life not just dealing with a couple of faggots in the weights room.

I just don't get that attitude. Why would you judge someone for just starting out? Actually, what is there TO judge? If someone is just starting out, of course they're not going to be very advanced. That's just so obvious, it wouldn't even occur to me to be something to laugh about.

That's not to say I don't sometimes think, "Wow, they've got a long way to go." But again, it's not the kind of thing you'd point and laugh over.

I mean, you don't laugh at school kids playing rugby because they haven't yet developed the skills of an All Black. Anyone who does would have to be pretty insecure themselves.

And that's given me a thought...

There are two types of people in the gym. Those who train to feel better about themselves, and those who train because they enjoy the lifestyle. The ones that train to make themselves feel better have a lot of insecurities, which sometimes getting bigger will resolve for them - and they'll come and go, depending on their level of self-satisfaction. But the ones who train because they enjoy it will continue training - it's their lifestyle, and they're generally much more interested in encouraging others to adopt it too. I try to ignore the former, and befriend the latter.

I would prefer to encourage people to partake in exercising (pushing weights) than discourage.I started out as a young lifter pressing 40kg at a gym. Being around other gym goers inspired and made me determine to improve. Within no time weights increased, muscles increase. Do not worry what other people think. As long as you progress that enough for the meantime.

People way to sensitive and kiss each other's arse too much these days, what happened to the old nzbb? Was full of straight shooters.

maybe OP doing exercise wrong? If wearing stringer, have half pot hair gel in your head, and no idea what u doing then I would prob laugh too

Let's be real here, if you're judging someone negatively in the gym, I think you have some personal issues you need to deal with.

You're either a) judging someone negatively as if you're better than them so you DO feel better than them or b) judging someone negatively because they're actually better than you and thinking of them negatively makes you feel better.

I used to do it, but now I've realised there's no need to be a fuckwit. I'm not a nut-hugger, I'm just not conceited.

ill have a laugh to myself if someones form is shocking or they lifting way to heavy and swinging everywere but the laugh is internal.

ive aproched a lot of guys and few girls in my time at gym when i see a movement or exerice i not seen before and ask what musscle and what reason they doing it. ive never had a negative response.

not sure if that cause everyone is nice.....yea right or just they see me traing wit 100percent effort

Try capturing some footage of these antics. I've trained for years unipol, powerdome, Les mills, world gym in Dunedin, a couple in the Hutt and in Palmy. There are a minority of lifters that think they are all that. Just remember there is someone bigger and stronger out there. Keep your egos in check guys.
