Still alive... I trained last Monday but didn't train the rest of the week I did go in on tues actually and attempted a bench workout but arms were dead. Had some stuff happen so didn't do the 272.5x8 deadlift. I got back into my training yesterday with some squats. I joined new gym on Sunday. Really liking it. And today...

Have you slowed your eccentrics?? or is just me seeing things??

Yeah bro, decided to bring my grip in and lower the bar with full control. I found the dropping of the bar ok at first but I loose too much tightness and it beats my arms up just as bad.

Slower eccentric is painful but my grip is in and im tucking my elbows so taking most of the load off my pec which will always be weaker than before I tore it then re tore it 3 weeks later which probably fucked it for rest of my life but could be worse.

I need a 200 second attempt at nationals on bench press to do what I wanna do. Anything less than 200 will be dissapointing so I'm just trying to find a way to do that. It's possible to close grip over 200kg so that's what I'm going with now.

Mean bro actually looks a lot stronger and more confident this way. But I'm always gonna be biased towards control lol

You are right bro, it felt on point. But it is only 160 at the end of the day, so can't get too excited

22/6

Deadlift

to 272.5x7, 245x8

sumo sldl

160x3x8

lat pull down

3x12

Happy with this today. Programmed called for 8. I missed the 8th but I kinda gave up once I knew I was really going to have to grind it out. Just no point risking a hamstring or anything else when I'm this far out from nationals, meaning a long way out. Nats is August 27th so plenty of time for grinding. That's not to say I'm not going hard cause I am and I miss is a miss but happy nonetheless

23/6

squats

to 240x1, 220x8, 200x8

high bar pause squats

180x3x5

leg extension

3x20

couldnt use ssb today so use regular bar. All squats without wraps. 220x8 probably an 8rpe-ish coulda got another 2 maybe. Just run out of puff lol. Haven't met many people in my new gym so have some camera men rounded up soon hopefully.

I was lucky enough to be asked today if I wanted to check out the bop steamers new facility so I had a look quite a big front office I didn't know that many people were involved at a itm cup level desks and computers full up a room and even a receptionist. So high performance sport NZ with university of Waikato have built a facility well renovated the old cossy club at Blake park in the mount. NZ sevens teams are based their as well as the steamers and some other teams as well as some individual athletes. You have to be invited to train and be based out of this gym so basically Olympic level. The gym is state of the art similar to what you see in colleges in America. Very cool.

my favourite part though was the high performance lab that has the rowers, bikes, treadmill that people can be hooked up to a Vo2 Max machine. There is also an awesome room that can simulate humidity, temperature and altitude up to 5000m which athletes can train in to acclimatise to the environment they are competing in and get better faster. All very very cool!

Bench tonight. See how the arms go after a big squat session. If no good I'll just reschedule the bench for Thursday.
